My dad doesn’t know anything about food, except that’s it’s delicious. Here’s a gem from the other day, that felt like it was written for a family sitcom.

I was reading a book (about interjections, oddly enough) yesterday which included the phrase “In these days of political correctness…” talking about no longer making jokes that denigrated people for their culture or for the colour of their skin. And I thought, “That’s not actually anything to do with ‘political correctness’. That’s just treating other people with respect.”
Which made me oddly happy. I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase “politically correct” wherever we could with “treating other people with respect”, and it made me smile.
You should try it. It’s peculiarly enlightening.
I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking “Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!”
Happy Valentine’s Day.
I just noticed that this had, in photo form, started to go viral… so here is the original Tumblr post.
Thank you.
For all of you, this has been really helpful to me, try it if you feel bad :). This is the speech if you wanna listen to it www.youtube.com/watch?v=plWexCID-kA

Perfect.
I recently bought the beautiful chap book that was made out of Neil Gaiman’s graduation speech, it serves as a very, very good reminder that who you and and what you do are interlinked. If you aren’t digging what you’re doing from 9-5, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
I am majorly, totally, butt-crazy in love with Josh.
Aw, ‘lil Paul Rudd!
THIS MAKES ME THE HAPPIEST PERSON ON EARTH

Sonder: The realization that each passerby has a life as vivid and complex as your own.
Opia: The ambiguous intensity of Looking someone in the eye, which can feel simultaneously invasive and vulnerable.
Monachopsis: The subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place.

hey girl: toxic masculinity killed the world, but I believe that your kindness, altruism and teamwork can help us start to heal. I’m on your team.

hey girl: you can use my shoulder as a rifle stand, as you’re the better shot of the two of us.
This part (as I texted kimithegreat earlier) is literally my favorite part of the movie. Says so much with so little.
- Come and see our giant kiwifruit. Come and see our giant carrot. Even come and see our giant Lemon and Paeroa bottle. But don’t think, even for a second, about what left them behind.
- You get stuck in traffic. Your dad blames it on foreign drivers. You don’t...
Have you ever wondered where books come from?
Well then, let me show you, because that’s what I do for a living.
Right now, it’s this time of the year, and the little ones have just freshly hatched:
You’ll notice they’re still blind and naked when they hatch. So I make them little coats to keep them warm during their first winter:
See how they happily line up to put them on:
See? Better. Now they’re ready to go and explore the world.
And if they make it through the winter and we take good care of them, they will grow up to be strong and wise like their older fellows:
So, in case you were ever wondering, now you know.
As a Publishing Professional I can say that this is 10000% accurate, and I am a little concerned you’re just giving away all of our industry secrets on Tumblr.
I am a famousy awards-winning author of BOOKS and I endorse this post.
Aw, bless.
I created these VHS covers for “april’s fool day” pretending a parisian hipster named “Stan” only watched modern films and TV series on VHS. You can read my full article here: http://golem13.fr/hipster-vhs-paris
A French artist going by the name “Stan” created this awesomely impressive series VHS-style covers and cases for modern movies and TV shows. This project was conceived as an April Fools’ Day prank, but each cover is so detailed and convincing in its design that it’s also fair to call this a nostalgic work of art.

“Why wasn’t friendship as good as a relationship? Why wasn’t it even better? It was two people who remained together, day after day, bound not by sex or physical attraction or money or children or property, but only by the shared agreement to keep going, the mutual dedication to a union that could never be codified.”
—Hanya Yanagihara, A Little Life
So good.
