Excited to be designing the costumes for ‘The Wedding Singer’ the musical comedy. Set in the 1980s, there is so much colour and so many shoulder pads! It opens in Adelaide just after Easter then plays Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Sydney.

Inspired by the 1960s Qantas uniform, I have designed and constructed a costume for the ‘hostess’ of podcast “Dolly’s Trolly”. Can’t do a final fitting until after lockdown so delivery will be a few weeks away.

Very excited that this new book features Todd McKenney on the cover wearing a costume I designed for him. (The Boy From Oz, 2010) Expertly tailored by the late Maruska Blyszczak. The tailcoat sleeves are longer than normal so they don’t look too short when his arms are outstretched. There is a hidden belt under the waistcoat so the jacket doesn’t swing open when Todd is dancing. See the fabric folds under his arms, this gusset enables him to put his hands above his head without the jacket’s shoulders moving. He has a “pop up” top hat, a “tie yourself” bow and his bespoke shoes were white leather (not painted) with non slip soles. The outfit has lots of unseen Velcro and press studs for quick costume changing. Costume design MUST have form and FUNCTION.

“Sweeney Todd” opens at the iconic Her Majesties Theatre Melbourne on Thursday. I’m so excited for my costumes to hit that stage.

The Lady of The Lake and her Laker Girls from “Spamalot” ..... Very green!

It was great fun to design the costumes for a production of the musical “Monty Python’s Spamalot” ... Here are my “brave Knights” and King Arthur.

Rent .... I used some “Keith Haring” imagery in the costumes as a tribute to this artist, who among other things was an AIDS activist.
