Maggie’s Plan (2015)
One of this year's best films. Also, give me that sweater.
David Berry has been cast in the pivotal role of Lord John Grey for the third season of Outlander!
I am on board with this.
Like pecan pie, this Southern drama is a treat so rich that it shouldn’t be rushed.
Why I love Rectify on @sundancetv and recommend that you don’t rush through it.
(via Hollywood Gave Up on You: The Summer Movies of 2016 | Balder and Dash | Roger Ebert)
“Too many [Hollywood movies this summer] offered only howling towers of Armageddon, where humans could do little more than cower in front of them, numb with horror and helplessness. If they were lucky, the chosen few might swoop in to save them, but not before some chin stroking ruminations on why the whole thing was worth it in the first place. There is no place anymore for scenes like in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 2,” where Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), after saving a train car full of passengers, is in turn saved by them when the strain proves too much. It’s a kind, humane scene in a blockbuster that understands that warm colors and letting shots breath does not have to mean forgoing thrilling action or large-scale adventure. “Spider-Man 2” is only 12 years old, but at this point it feels more like 30.”
My dashboard is all Tom Hiddleston right now.
And I’m not complaining.

“No, you really are!”
It is totally acceptable for all of the characters to be your favorite.
See the first trailer for one of the year’s best films, Kirsten Johnson’s Cameraperson.
This movie is so great.
