Saturday Symposium!
That's what I'm callin' this now. Ya' can't stop me.
Anyway, this is a discussion post! I wanna hear from ya', an' I want ya' ta hear from each other! Today's topic: What're the best Absolute comic books, an' why?
Absolute Batman is gettin' animated (unsurprisin', it's far an' away the best seller,) but what would ya' like ta see next? What's yer favorite? How do ya' rank 'em?
I have loved every single Absolute book so far, which is impressive, but here's my personal rankin' order:
1.) Absolute Wonder Woman - It's just got so much heart. Diana is the hero I want to be. They better not hurt Barbara, though! This is the next animated Absolute story I wanna see.
2.) Absolute Martian Manhunter - This is so trippy, remindin' me a' the psychadelic Dr. Strange stuff a' the 70s, but updated fer a modern audience. Beautifully done!
3.) Absolute Green Lantern - Look, I adore my disaster queers, all right? An' Jo Mullein is a disaster queer with a capital Q! Plus the mystical take on the emotional spectrum is fascinatin' to me! Too bad they made me a villain though. What went wrong, Absolute me??
4.) Absolute Superman - This started out as my favorite, an' I still love it. Kal is a revolutionary hero for our time, and his recent interactions with Carter Hall have been amazingly written.
5.) Absolute Batman - It's popular for a reason! What started out as a kinda over-the-top we-love-the-90s thing has become a deeply tangled tale of friendship, working class solidarity, resentment, mistakes, redemption, and the necessity of not bein' isolated. The Crime Alley gang is a great example a' working-class organization, an' I hope they ain't ruined ferever. I'm glad Waylon's tryin' ta get 'em in shape.
6.) Absolute Flash - Wally's IMO the weakest character in the comic, and Wally's still a good character. But he's overshadowed by the Rogues, who are amazin', an' Grodd, who is adorable. Also I love their take on Linda Park. Unlike the big three Absolute characters, Wally didn't choose to be Flash, and watchin' him try to pull himself from trauma ta hero has been a good story.
7.) Absolute Green Arrow - Look, Green Arrow is endin' billionaires, an' Black Canary is tryin' to track him down while wonderin' if he ain't the good guy. What's not ta love?
8.) Absolute Catwoman - Not a lot has happened here yet, but Selena wuz great in Absolute Batman an' I trust she'll be great here.
9.) Absolute Evil - Look, this wasn't really much a' anythin' except a who's who of the villains. Which is fun, but not really grippin'. It's on the bottom of my list. But it still wasn't bad, an' the reveal a' Hawkman an' Ollie Queen was shockin'!
So that's my opinion, but that's only my opinion an' very much based on my emotional responses! Tell me yours! Join the symposium! Discuss, clarify, ask questions, the floor is yours!
