HAPPY PRIDE, POOZERS! I feel like the month has more significance in these embattled times, so I'm goin' all out here! A month a' the queerest content I got! ... which is gonna look very much like my regular content, cuz I'm very, very queer. I call myself pansexual when pushed, but I really prefer queer. I got specific types of people I'm attracted to, but gender just ain't got nothin' ta do with it. That definitely falls within pan, but I dunno, pan always felt more omnisexual ta me. I also figured out I was poly, which after a few embarrassingly poor starts I'm finally startin' ta get a handle on. I have partners a' different genders, who I ain't gonna talk more about cuz they deserve their privacy. I feel like I'm somewhere on the graysexual/demisexual scale, not completely but leaning in that direction, but I honestly am still figurin' that out. An' that's okay! Life is a long journey, an' there's always more ta explore, both in the world outside an' in yer own self! That's what makes life worth livin'! Sometimes I gotta admit that I dropped the ball. An' when it has ta do with BIPOC representation, I gotta look at myself an' ask if that's my privilege. It's been over 1200 days since DC comics had a black-led ongoin' comic in their main universe. An' I didn't notice. Durin' that time we had some really good limited series, an' a' course we have Absolute Green Lantern which is fantastic, but the former ain't ongoin' an' the latter ain't main universe. An' I shoulda recognized that. I shoulda been talkin' about that fer a long time. There's people boycottin' DC now with #dcblackout an' #dcsowhite an' I support the goals a' the boycott an' the fact that there's a clear endpoint: A black-led ongoing series in the prime universe. On the other hand, DC comics is my bread an' butter. Quite literally, I rely on income from this page ta survive. But I've never compromised my beliefs fer livelihood before, an' I ain't about ta start now. So here's what I'm gonna do. First, I'm gonna apologize fer not bein' aware a' this sooner. I will pay more attention ta representation in the future. Second, I'm gonna recommend Zatanna by Jamal Campbell. It's not a black-led comic book since Zatanna's white, but Jamal Campbell, the writer/artist/colorist, is one of DCs finest black creators an' his story is fantastic. An' finally, right now I'm gonna take Scott Snyder at face value when he says black-led ongoin' series are in the works. I'm gonna investigate as far as I can behind the scenes stuff at DC, an' give 'em 'til August ta' announce such a book. An' if they don't, I'll join the boycott. Maybe be a Marvel page for a while. Maybe focus on IDW or Image or Dark Horse. If my investigation behind the scenes don't turn up nothin', that deadline may be pushed forward. One a' the challenges a' leftism is, since we ain't the most popular ideology, we all tend ta be individualists who've pulled away from the common propaganda a' capitalism. Bein' an elder activist now is a weird transition, cuz I've always been the kinda guy ta seek a consensus an' do democratic action in activism even when I wuz young.
