You want to know what it was? The moment I knew you were it? It was when I showed you the darkest parts of me, and, instead of running away, you rolled out a blanket, laid on your back, and pointed out the stars.

it’s beautiful how she’s only available to few. how she only reveals herself to those that appreciate her colorful petals.

Yves Saint Laurent gave women power, Chanel liberated them and when I joined Lanvin, I thought what do I bring to women? One day, I received an SMS from a friend in New York – she was in a taxi on the way to court to face her arsehole ex-husband, and she said to me ‘Alber, I am wearing a Lanvin dress, and I feel so protected.’ That to me was the biggest compliment I ever received. To have a 500 gram piece of silk make her feel protected – that made me very happy indeed.

I want out of the labels. I don’t want my whole life crammed into a single word. A story. I want to find something else, unknowable, some place to be that’s not on the map. A real adventure.’ A spinx. A mystery. A blank. Unknown. Undefined.
Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible Monsters (via wordsnquotes)
It starts with teeth by your neck, that shade of pale violet before sunrise, how physics wants gravity to be something tangible and forgiven.
GRAVITY AS SOMETHING TANGIBLE. (via elvedon)
the children sang songs that had no meaning the politicians argued about decisions that didn’t affect them the business men made money they were never happy to spend the teachers kept teaching false intelligence the parents restricted difference the teenagers started killing themselves the storms got stronger the street lights started falling the flowers were ashes the romantic films no more you whispered “I love you” while the building fell on us we died and woke up in a 24 hour diner in the middle of your mind you said this was your favorite place to eat i said “me too”.

Never think that you already know all. However highly you are appraised, always have the courage to say to yourself – I am ignorant.

I find myself angry at the shallow empty behavior of people. I find myself hurt at the selfish and unreasonably cruel actions of the few. I find myself wanting to scream at them, is this who you are? is this how you choose to be? are these actions truly you? and then I find myself questioning my own decisions. I find myself filled with doubt and insecurities. I find myself, having absorbed so much of the pain of others, unable to find my own release and now I am lashing out, cruel and unrecognizable. I find that I can no longer laugh. and then suddenly I realize that I cannot find myself at all.

What are we but imperfect creatures, entranced by our delusions of perfection?

[Aztec metaphysics] subscribes to the notion that that which is real is that which becomes, changes, and moves. Reality is defined by becoming–not by ‘being’ or ‘is-ness.’ To be real is to become, to move, and to change. In short, Aztec metaphysics embraces a metaphysics of Becoming. It embraces flux, evanescence, and change by making them defining characteristics of existence and reality–rather than marginalizing them by denying them existence and reality. It maintains the ontological priority of process and change over rest and permanence. It squarely identifies the real with the constant flux of things.
James Maffie, from Aztec Philosophy: Understanding a World in Motion (University of Colorado Press, 2014)
Existential Text Messages are Juxtaposed Against Classical Paintings by April Eileen Henry
Los Angeles-based poet and artist April Eileen Henry began Texts From Your Existentialist as an outlet of creativity where she could give her poetry a visual and meaningful aid. Her work originated from the internet’s obsession with feelings of sadness, alienation and the existential dread, which is constantly delivered on a daily basis. Henry’s aim is to bring awareness to those at the pity party who are often overlooked due to their introversion or timidity. With the use of classical paintings composed by the masters like Egon Schiele, Pablo Picasso, Lucien Freud and a wide range of romantic painters, Henry composes an interesting juxtaposition between the contemporary mental psyche and classical art.

[She] craved solitude but she hated loneliness, a conundrum that she couldn’t even begin to solve.
Kate Atkinson, Life After Life (via wordsnquotes)
We treat our future selves as though they were our children, spending most of the hours of most of our days constructing tomorrows that we hope will make them happy.
