I haven't written fanfiction in a long time; the two I have on my main AO3 were posted in 2020, yes, but written years earlier.
Out of any series that could have made me want to come back to writing, I will admit Black Butler was not one I expected.
First things first; I wish to give credit.
Of course we start off with our lovely artist here who I commissioned for the cover art of Paved with Malicious Intent! Potato was an absolute joy to work with, and you should give them money in exchange for services. (also pay Potato more than their commissions charge 🔪 or else)
It was so fun to research up flower meanings for the plants in the background. I had to be careful to avoid certain types and colors, as I didn't want the flower language to accidentally come off as romantic 🤢
Here's what they symbolize!
Prince's-Feather (Far Left) - immortality and unfading
Oak-leafed Geranium - true friendship & deign to smile
White Heather - good luck & protection
Pink Hyacinth - playful joy
Petunias - historically resentment & rage, modernly soothing presence
Virgin's Bower - filial love (aka familial love for a child)
(Far Right) Spider Lilies - red for death & rebirth, yellow for happiness & everlasting friendship
Secondly I must give thanks to my beta reader and biggest supporter, @iced-blood, whose YuGiOh fanfiction Paved with Good Intentions is what inspired the name of mine. I love you bestie <3
Thirdly I must point out the specific author who made me want to write again; @pain-in-the-butler, whose Dadbastian's fanfic we all know and love, Coattails, changed my brain chemistry for good. Any chapters, or moments, that were inspired by Coattails will have an author's note about what chapter or moment that made me want to open up my word document.
Finally, let's list off some users on here who have done some wonderful Modern Day Au art, and were also part of why I wanted to not just write, but focus in a modern day universe.
