[ he didn't immediately notice any staff and was far too preoccupied to go searching, dropping to his knees by the first kennel he came across and eagerly stuffing a hand through the bars. He was greeted with equally excited licks and a wet nose, to which he gave a goofy little giggle and put on his best baby voice ]

Oh my goodness hello! Hello! Who's a good puppy?

[Bobby was always happy to have customers, but he couldn't pretend he wasn't surprised to see his old bandmate. He didn't quite recognize him at first, with the new hair and all, but that posture (and body size) was unmistakable.]

His name's Artie. He was rescued with a broken leg. Hey, don't I know you from somewhere?

Wait, Bob? Bobby?

[ he sprung up with all the energy of a younger man, absolutely beaming as he bounded over. You'd honestly be convinced he was about to pounce right at the man if he hadn't hit the breaks at the last second and slapped his hands down on the former drummer's shoulders in greeting ]

[The larger man appreciated the hesitation to grab onto him, but he also knew how affectionate Mikey could be. He didn't mind a hug in greeting, so he gave one, pulling the other in and patting his back before pulling them both apart again.]

[ he giggled softly at his own joke, feeling pleasantly warm even after they'd parted from the hug. He could remember Bob had that sort of effect- considering a return of physical affection was often a rare luxury from their old drummer. Mikey had always been one of the few who received the honor of such. Maybe that's why he could remember Bob so clearly despite forgetting so much about the others whom he'd even been living with for some time now ]

Me? Oh, shit, man... I don't actually know.

[ awkwardly, like there was some sort of shame to be had in admitting it, he turned his attention back towards the padding and sniffing of animals nearby as he spoke ]

[He sounded... surprised? Upset? He wasn't quite sure himself. If he was reconditioned, well, that didn't fare well for the band...]

Hey, you know what, it's cool. I've been living a pretty average life here, all things considered. So, you know. Not much to update you on, either...

[Bob gave an awkward laugh, only then realizing that they were standing out in the open in a... moderately unclean space.]

[The man pulled off his rubber gloves and tucked them into his apron, then bringing Mikey in past a set of double doors and through the kennels in the back. He didn't spend long there, passing them quickly and heading out into the back courtyard, where patches of orange and green grass made space for a (currently empty) agility course.]

Not a bad day out, huh? I mean, a little cold- but nice.

We're on break from touring for a while. I sort of remember it. It's probably one of the most clear things I have, actually. It was a long one, hah... I'd say I wish you were there, but that would sort of also be wishing the worst on you at the same time.

.... We're staying in a hotel. Not sure if you knew that already. It gets so cramped in there with all of us trying to maneuver around each other. Sort of ridiculous. We've been trying to fix that but uh... you know how they are up there.

[ his eyes finally came to settle on Bob's face once more, and his smile was enough to bring one to Mikey's lips as well in return ]

Then, there was one he recognized. The Clerk. He perked up a bit, knocking once, and then testing the handle to see if he could enter ]

[he heard an unfamiliar knock at his door- as was expected- being the Clerk of Draag. the sound had sort of shaken him out of the repetitive process of paperwork, as he finished up a schedule, adding the last block of “to-do’s” before answering.]

Their stature and their voices were different- even their eyes. he would’ve thought they were just distantly related- if not for the bond he saw they shared on stage.]

[ he pretended to relax, like a businessman about to throw his pitch. Truthfully, he had absolutely no power here, but he figured the cooler he played it the more likely he was to get a better response. These people seemed to prey on their woe ]

First thing: you guys had my brain joggled pretty recently. I figure you deemed there to be a good reason for it, as always... but I would very much like that back, actually. I've got an entire family that I can't remember and I kind of feel like that's going to send me into psychosis. You don't want your beautiful bass player in psychosis, do you?

Fortunately, we don’t need our bassist for another… three months, about. Even if you did somehow inter into delirium, I’m positive we could have you simply- ah- wiped again.

[he sat back in his office chair, unamused. he could only imagine what the second complaint would be.]

See but the thing is, the wiping is kind of what's doing that to me. The problem could be solved if maybe you stopped doing that...? And also hammered my thoughts back into my head or something. Is there a way you can do that? I-

You see, we didn’t exactly test this on willing individuals. I fear we have no ways to bring back memories, as anyone we have revived so far has not mentioned such side affects- besides for a few bouts of forgetfulness. 

[simply put- after the tour had completed for the time being, he stopped caring about the whereabouts of the National Band. Them being placed into a hotel room was none of his concern- however, he supposed he could spare some time to do the gruelling paperwork, in hopes that they wouldn’t bother him again untill the shows continue.]

[ he sighed deeply, bringing a hand up to rest his cheek on in a pathetic sort of droop. He was good at the puppydog eyes, whether intentional or not- even if they really only had a very small chance of swaying the other man in any sort of direction ]

You could buy out the whole goddamn hotel for us and it wouldn't change that it's not a home. We want a kitchen we can cook in. A table we can sit at. We want a space that's ours. I think I can speak for everyone when I say in the short time that I can recall, it's already pretty clear that living in a space like this is... really fucking with everyone's heads.

[The man pulled off his rubber gloves and tucked them into his apron, then bringing Mikey in past a set of double doors and through the kennels in the back. He didn't spend long there, passing them quickly and heading out into the back courtyard, where patches of orange and green grass made space for a (currently empty) agility course.]

(they chuckled as they spoke, taking another bite from the bagel and closing their eyes for a moment. it was almost relaxing - either way it was nice to be back with Mikey.)

[ he chewed on his snack idly, catching Death looking at him and returning the smile with a mirrored sentiment. He wasn't sure how long he'd been gone, but he had the deep feeling it had been long enough to miss them dearly ]

(they laughed, obviously joking. it had been a long time, a very long time, since Mikey had been with them properly. genuinely. not as a clone, not reconditioned, just Mikey.

(a grin, only hesitating briefly before taking the offered piece of bagel. they knew it Mikey was offering it then he genuinely wouldn't want it himself. they finished that off, shifting in the seat to watch the other for a moment. again, it was nice to see him acting almost normal in this situation.)

It did scare him just a bit how unfamiliar it all seemed, but he trusted that it wouldn't be long. He knew they'd been through this song and dance time and time again, and if Gerard wasn't freaking out, then there was nothing to stress too hard over ]

(in a way it was almost relaxing to be driving. despite the fact that it was in someone else's car. . . that didn't matter. for the moment it was just them and Mikey, they could be anywhere at all. they could be back home.)

(they paused, knowing it would be better to explain that all at a later date. they weren't sure just how much Mikey remembered. . . that didn't matter though, they didn't mind telling him everything.

everything. . . just as the reality of what that word meant set in, they were pulled into that hug and immediately melted into it. arms wrapped around Mikey and held tightly - not too much, but enough that it was obvious he really needed this. so many things had happened, so many things they'd have to try and explain. . .

[Bobby was always happy to have customers, but he couldn't pretend he wasn't surprised to see his old bandmate. He didn't quite recognize him at first, with the new hair and all, but that posture (and body size) was unmistakable.]

[The larger man appreciated the hesitation to grab onto him, but he also knew how affectionate Mikey could be. He didn't mind a hug in greeting, so he gave one, pulling the other in and patting his back before pulling them both apart again.]

He could remember Bob had that sort of effect- considering a return of physical affection was often a rare luxury from their old drummer. Mikey had always been one of the few who received the honor of such. Maybe that's why he could remember Bob so clearly despite forgetting so much about the others whom he'd even been living with for some time now ]
