Zora design and Xixi doodle page! (Because everyone seems to love my design of her)
I haven’t drawn Mort in a while, and I wanted to make sure I made Zora big and buff to match her lemur self! I love drawing Xixi as much as people enjoy her design and I’m happy people like my designs. Once I’ve don’t all the designs for the characters I’ll put them in a compilation
King Julien the Terrible/Grandma Rose’s long lifespan theory (plus Julien II the night creature)
Disclaimer: This is mainly based on my theory that King Julien the Terrible is the alternate name of King Julien I. (As in he was re-named when re-elected as King and became a tyrant)
I’ll explain my theory like a story because it’s easier! Get comfy because this is a pretty long post!:
King Julien the Terrible, (currently King Julien I) hired a younger Grandma Rose, as his bodyguard, back in the early days of Madagascar. But soon, King Julien I had a son, Julien II. To keep his son safe he locked him away in his hut in the baobab tree, never to be seen by the kingdom. And he didn’t plan for his son to take over as King.
But Julien I wasn’t the best king, and soon there was a revolution (Similar to LALA if it actually worked), and he was kicked off the throne and banished from the kingdom. Julien II took his place. Now Julien I was angry that his kingdom and Rose had betrayed him in favour of his son, and I guess that’s kinda his villain origin story lol. One day he sent for his son to visit him, to gift him with Gecko Milk, which obviously isn’t actual gecko milk, because that’s not a real thing, but actually an untested poison.
He had planned to poison his son and blame Rose by claiming she was the perpetrator, then reclaim his throne and be seen as a hero. However, this plan was only half successful. Instead of dying, Julien II turned into the Night Creature, and was immediately hunted by Rose, who killed him. Then only after he was dead did Julien I reveal the antidote and turn him back into the - now dead - King Julien II. Rose was immediately seen as a monster for what she’d done, and banished too. But Julien I didn’t get his crown back. He was also hated for not stepping in sooner and letting the king be killed. This only made him more angry. A 1 year Julien III was put on the throne instead.
Rose was of course, very angry at Julien I, for taking away her respect and making her look like a horrid monster, and it lead to her trapping Julien I in a cave with his tail tied under a rock, then rewriting/altering the history book to make it seem that the creature was just a raving monster and not her beloved king.
Theory time! But about the long lifespan part? Well this is where Mort comes in. He consumes souls as a means to live longer. Well, what if both Julien I and Rose did too, but for different reasons. Julien I to reclaim his throne (and eventually become King Julien the Terrible, and then come back in AHKJ to take over our current King Julien), but Rose did it to train her children and grandchildren to protect their kings.
(Also what if Mort was there on scene with Julien II and remembers watching him die, but he’s too dumb to mention it lol)
Though it’s clear they can still be killed by murder but they can’t die of natural causes. Obviously Julien the Terrible was killed by lightning and Rose died to Victor Wildebeest, and Mort just gets unusually lucky with his survival, and also they probably don’t physically age once they start consuming souls which is why Mort still looks like a child because he has the body of one.
I would probably assume Soul Consumption isn’t practiced now and Mort’s the current only know person still doing it. Otherwise so many other villains would’ve probably tried it by now.
But it’s just a theory. Lemme know if you want to hear why I believe King Julien the Terrible is the same person as Julien I. And also give me your thoughts if you have any :)
Final designs of Pt 2!!
The trio with the most anxiety, and we love them for it. I’m actually kinda proud of my Horst design because I tried to draw him before and gave up. Also congrats to him on being the first person in trousers in my designs. also this is kinda to show people that I don’t just draw shirtless females, because someone said I only make the girls topless, this entire trio says otherwise, plus also King J is half shirtless in my movie designs.

What do you think of King Julien being trans... like many people headcanon him like that, but then his uncle also would be trans because amongst lemurs the females rule the kingdom. So why not make Julienne the queen, then Julien...
Personally I don’t think he’s trans, because I don’t like the stereotype of eccentric/effeminate male characters all beings trans (nothing against trans people ofc!). And honestly Julien isn’t really dominant. He’s just King. Clover has physical dominance over him, and even Dorothy has verbal dominance over Ted. But I do think it’s weird that Julien’s mom wasn’t Queen. Though maybe it’s a thing of age rather than gender and Uncle Julien was just older than Julienne therefore making him king first, and then once Julien was born, it just skips Julienne because now there’s a proper heir. I like that in the show, the wives of characters like Becca and Dorothy clearly have dominance, whilst Julien‘s more of a damsel. I think the whole trans thing then takes away from that dynamic of an eccentric bio male and a strong female bodyguard.
Explaining my AHKJ AU a little bit
So for context I mean mean my human AU. Also this isn’t everything but it’s just some rules i made for them.
So the kingdom is almost tribal, in especially that they dress in traditional tribal clothes and use handmade weapons. They still live in their wooden huts (and King Julien still lives in the baobab tree) and the plane is still the throne room.
Clover and Ted wear almost the same attire, to show they’re part of the same guard, with a few different touches like Clover having a jade necklace and Ted instead has a shark tooth one, but mostly they have the same uniform.
the kingdom mainly have their hair cut short and slicked back with a widows peak fringe, as the king is the only one who has the resources to properly take care of his longer hair. And Maurice is one of the only ones with 4C hair. If anyone else had 4C hair they’d also have to keep it short. Anyone who marries into the guard/royal circle is immediately a member unless they get divorced (E.G Since Dorothy is married to Ted, she’s unofficially now part of the guard, and is the last resort if Ted and Clover are unavailable)
Only royalty (and their advisors) are allowed to wear feathers, but since Xixi originally came from the Toucan Kingdom, she is giving an exception especially because she’s close to the king, she’s allowed to wear feathers, but everyone is not allowed to, unless given permission. If the king leaves/ gets taken, a member of the guard is to step in as monarch (Or Xixi and the spouses of guard members if none of the guard are available). The advisor is not allowed to take over as monarch.
The kingdom shouldn’t really allow other ‘species’ into their kingdom (aka other tribes), however they can be friends, and since Xixi was kicked out of her clan, she came to the king for help because they were good friends, and he allowed her to be an unofficial citizen of the Lemur Kingdom, but she is unable to get a job so she decided to report the news of Madagascar instead since it’s not a stated job in the kingdom.

Julien and Maurice’s looks in human form
I feel like putting Maurice in purple in the third movie to match Julien, but also keeping his darker theme by making it a deep purple unlike the bright pink which stands out more.
my current fav design is definitely Julien’s pink look. He’s slaying SO HARD. His sandy look is good too but I feel it’s a bit basic, but then again, the crown is also a bit more basic so it’s fitting.

I’m trying some new hairstyles. Just know that Zora’s probably going to have 4C hair like Maurice does (Afro hair). Becca was honestly my favourite to draw. And she’s my current fav design cuz she’s so pretty and I love her hair. also in my headcanon Julien’s parents moved to Europe which is why they’re not in tribal style clothes. Also Timo has the king’s crown on his sleeve because he’s the royal scizard :)

Sorry for not posting in a few days, I was on holiday. I went to Monkey World and the Tank Museum, and I got a cute lemur plushie named Ringo. But I’ve been neglecting making art. However I’m feeling more motivated so I’ll be making more TSAMS and All Hail King Julien art soon. I still need to make the rest of the AHKJ designs so I’ll be getting onto doing that. They might take a bit but I promise they’re coming! I don’t think I’ll be making a design for Karl or Chauncey so I’ve replaced them with some different characters instead.
