Kira Hellström

“Of course~” She nodded and went about fixing that with ease. “It’s a good excuse to talk to people when normally I’m pretty shy…” She admittedly setting the drink in front of the woman.

“Shy?” Kira almost could understand the concept, she didn’t own a shy bone on her body. “You’re hot as hell and seem more original than anyone I’ve seen in a while. What ever for?”

“Uh, no, but I think that guy is. Something about losing his wallet.”

Kira squinted her eyes to see if he was bluffing or not. “Oh no... he’s so far away --- There’s NO way I could catch up to him. Oh well, finders keepers. I feel terrible for his lost,” she lied.

“Target practice?” She said incredulously, “for what? What makes you think you can steal a strangers phone for ‘practice’?”

“Steal?” Kira exaggerated a gasp and held her hand to her heart, pretending to be hurt, “why the accusative tone?” She then chuckled unable to keep up the act. “Love, I wouldn’t give a fuck if you were my sweet nana Carolina, I take what I want.” 

“—How the hell did you do that?” Lydia mumbled, staring at the keys the blonde was holding just out of reach. She furrowed her brow as she patted down her jeans, then peeked into her bag, where she was sure was the last place she’d left them. 

Kira was tickled by the brunette’s reaction --- and not to mention, impressed by her own skills. She swiped keys when rent got tough, but luckily for the brunette, she was financially set for the moment. “I’ve been practicing since seven,” she shrugged. “So what’re you working with?” she said referring to the car model that went to the keys in her hand.

“How did you…?” Emmett asked, looking at the item in her hand and then looking down at his left wrist. How the hell did she get his watch off of him? “I’m going to need that back. It was a gift.” It was most certainly not a gift. “It’s pretty special to me.” Because he bought it for himself after a courtroom victory.

“A gift?...” Kira eyed the man and his ‘special watch’. “It’s a nice watch. I say whoever bought it had excellent taste.” She held it to the light to get a better look. “So,” she dropped it into her pocket, “exactly, how special is it to you? I might need a favor.”

“So I’ve been told.” Typically, that chased people away. This woman didn’t seem so inclined, and Ella was fairly certain that if she started walking, the other would just follow. Her cane made a sweep around her feet, making sure her immediate path was straight as she tried to figure out where she was in the town. “I’m not from here. But gosh-darn if I’m not just so touched by the comment, where exactly is the set to the lifetime movie you just walked off of?” She smiled; the kind of smile that didn’t make her look like she wanted to be smiling. 

“I’m fucking blind. Are you that stupid, or do you just like to ask completely asinine questions?” Honestly, she assumed it was pretty clear she couldn’t see, but there were always those people. “No, I like walking around with a cane. It makes me feel classy and gives me a handy weapon to beat people like you.”

‘Touhce’. she said to herself. Kira was quite tickled by the ‘lifetime movie set’ comment, it took a lot from her not to at least snort. “Rolling Hills, Los Angeles,” Kira replied with her most convincing Valley Girl impression, sweeping her hair to the back. “And what about you, Miss Amityville?”

Joey hadn’t even noticed her phone was missing since she was in the process of shoving fries into her mouth, but when she saw the blonde holding it, her eyes squinted and she tilted her head. “Why do you have that, Blondie?”

“Mmm-- wanted a glimpse into your personal life,” Kira shrugged with a smirk, “what’s the password?”

“My sanity, but that’s been gone for a long time. What you’re holding is a picture of my daughters, which is vaguely disturbing. I’d appreciate having it back.”

“How do I know you’re not just some pervert stashing little girls photos.” She tossed the picture back. “Never-mind, you’re dad --- you have stress bags,” she pointed to the bags under his eyes, “and you look older up close.”

He raised an eyebrow at her statement, “oh do not make me have to arrest you” he muttered, not really in the mood to have to deal with it… or anything really.

“Arrest me?” Kira huffed at the phrase. “Arresting someone because you’re a whiny little bitch still isn’t a good enough reason for arresting someone.” Rather he was in authority to arrest her or not wasn’t a concern of hers. She had a grave dislike for policemen or anyone of authority, and she made it her personal goal to give them living hell when given the chance. 

“Never claimed you did. I was the one that said that. Some people are willing to admit their faults.” She pointed out, turning her head away when she could only assume a cigarette was being offered. “”Pass.” She still didn’t understand the draw of them. “I’m not really looking to discuss what makes you perky, or your life better.”

“I have no idea what you’re asking.” She assumed it was something to do with her cane but that’s all it was; an assumption.

Kira’s only response to what the woman had to say was an attentive “hm.” She leaned back against the hydrant, taking in the woman before her. “You’re quite intense,” Kira admitted, finally. “Here I thought Woodridge was full of non-gmo, grass eating hipsters --- not assuming that you aren’t, but you...,” the cigarette that was fixed in between her index and middle finger was pointed at the brunette. “you’re different.” Kira was simply intrigued by the fact that she wasn’t bored the first five seconds of meeting her, or that their interaction didn’t give her the urge to want to either hang herself or choke the person before her. Been there, done that.

“Is that my phone?” She asked eyeing up the phone in her hand. “What are you doing with that?”

“Simple.” Kira attempted to unlock the phone, “you're target practice.”

Ella didn’t need to see expressions when the tone said it all. “Yeah, I do. And it’s almost always accurate.” If this woman thought she could win by insults, she had no idea the kind of ways Ella could insult herself first. “Oh sweetheart, you don’t even know the start of how fucked up I am. I’m just not in the mood to sit around for the next century while you figure it out.”

“I never said you were fucked up, but I mean if you say so,” Kira pulled a pack of Camels that she stole from her back pocket and placed one between her lips. “Smoke?” She offered the brunette a cigarette as she leaned against the fire hydrant. “To be frank, you’re probably right. Maybe I am perky. I mean life would be a hell of a lot easier if I were, I’ll assume.”

“Yeah, the line starts back there to see the freak show.” Ella snapped, her voice dry, though lacking bite. She drew the can back to herself, turning slightly to the sound of the voice speaking her.  “Oh, fuck off. Either get the expression or don’t, I’m not really in the mood for what I’m guessing is a perky blonde with an obnoxious smile.” 

“Aww,” Kira expressed with blatant faux concern. She wasn’t yet out of ‘the chuckles’, and the brunette calling her a ‘perky blonde’ wasn’t helping. “Do... Um, do you stereotype everyone you meet?” She took a breath to dispel whatever giggles she had left. “I mean, that can’t be healthy. I mean looking at you now... I’m sure it wouldn’t do much damage, but still."

“…” She gave the girl a rather unimpressed looking. “I’m sure I’ll find something though, It’s just the start of my search.” She smiled rather determinedly. The comment not disheartening her, in fact, if anything it would make her more determined to find something.

Kira wouldn’t be surprised if the woman was as unimpressed as she looked. “Of course you will.” Kira winked. “You’re a woman, strong and beautiful. We always find our way.” Kira was simply repeating words from her mother.

He knew the line was ridiculous, but that was almost his intention of sorts. Wanted to get a reaction out of it that a casual, ‘normal’ line wouldn’t have. It’d been the entire reason he’d approached her in the first place. Her comment caused him to chuckle, raising his brow at her. “Less time than it took for you to shoot it down, if I’m going to be honest with you.” He told her with a shrug, leaning against the wall. “Was that a no for drinks or dinner or did you just wanna tear my ego down a little?”

“Mm...” Kira’s finger was pressed against her lips as she contemplated the options before her. She slowly analyzed him from top to bottom, taking in whatever noteworthy details she could of the strange but amusing man. “I guess the ridiculing can cease for now.” She finally said. “I’m too famished to further shred whatever ego you might posses.”
