Enlightenment is an illusion. In knowing this you are freed from chasing something that does not exist. True Self - that which you are - is the ever-shining Sun: often obscured by the clouds, even the darkest, they do not dim the brilliance of its shining, nor do they change its nature. Thoughts, old mental habits, fears and expectations are the clouds; experiences, often profound, have much to teach you but do not define or determine who you are.

Whatever you think and feel and however you are driven to behave rest assured the tide will ebb and flow, the trees will leaf and blossom in the Spring and the sun will shine. It is the machinations of mind, emotion and feeling which present you with seeming realities driving you to be that which you are not.
