Been diving into my childhood show for the past several months. Just finished season 9.

I haven't watched this show in its entirety since it first came out on DVD in the mid 2000s. I was in my 20s then.

It's so cool to rewatch it now. The influence this show has had on modern shows the past 30+ years.

20 years ago, I would probably argue that the mythology/UFO episodes are the strongest stuff in the show. And yes, it does hold the show together, it's the main arc. I do love the monster of the week, off the wall episodes, though.

Great character moments in some of them. Reminds me of Stephen King stories with alternate endings.

This was my gateway to horror.

The later seasons got a beating that it didn't deserve in its time. Yes, the seventh season dragged a bit. Season eight wasn't as terrible as I remember. Even season nine (as a whole) was not mediocre as the general masses make it out to be. Sadly, continuity and certain storylines weren't tied together as perfectly as it should have been. In hindsight, they should've ended the series around the season sixth mark. I think that's where the series was at its peak.

By the way - 'The Lone Gunmen' series is utter trash. I never watched it during its run. I wanted to watch it now with my X-Files revisit tour. Disappointed, considering Chris Carter and Vince Gillian being heavily involved with the show. There were a few episodes that had an ounce of X Files quality, but, it was a product of its time that did not aged well.

As an avid collector of spooky things and stuff, wanted to recommend these gems to my spooky friends that might be reading/following this blog. The beauty about these - they're lengthy documentaries about horror films from the '80s/'90s. They are made by fans, and feature some of the brilliant people that created those spooky films we all cherish in our darkened souls.

I fell in love with this series when they were featured on Shudder years ago. I then bought them digitally on Amazon. After a few more times watching them on streaming and still being fascinated; the inevitable of wanting to own them on Blu Ray was there.
