          ✴ ◌ ◍ ◎ ⟡ ⁎ —- “well, i can say you’re at the wrong part of this place kid.” he gives her a sad smile but turns on the computer screen in front of him as he knew the information she probably needed was at the library. “i’d go down the hall, left turn at the end and you’ll find the LIBRARY. it may have something more helpful.” he types quickly onto the keyboard, “give me a sec. this for a class or something?”

          ✴ ◌ ◍ ◎ ⟡ ⁎ —- mekhai loved the museum, he loved just about e v e r y t h i n g about it and maybe it was just from years of dedicating time into the place but a small sliver of the place made him LOVE architecture by showing him history of a lot of the halston buildings. he flips the page he was on as his eyes look at his sister, “you’ve never been all that excited by the place.” he said jokingly but offers her a bright smile. “now i’m interested on why you’re visiting this O L D   B O N E.” he chuckled to himself as his pen pointed to a bone encased in glass on the outskirt of the desk. “though i say so myself, not much has c h a n g e d , everything is still as dusty and we’ve got the same regulars but it’s fun to see a couple halston high kids come in and just looking confused as ever.”

               “how you doing, mrs.lewster?” he asked with a smile, sitting at the front desk of the museum as he flipped through the thick textbook he had open on the desk and waited for a new delivery to come in. his parents going missing had made him step up the plate in having to maintain the museum and library, luckily he’s been working at the place since he was 16 to know just how to do so. he continued his conversation with the old woman before she made her way, he smiled at the person across of him. “what can i help you with?”

“my family, coffee and sleep.”

               “is it bad i wouldn’t be surprised if it was something illegal? i really do love her but i also expect her to do something that will make me have a heart attack one day. hey, i didn’t want my parents to give me everything and i believed it gave me the authentic growing up experience aside from the other things.” he gave her a smile, maxine was the only one who really could relate to him and he remembers being 15 and sitting in on important meetings because his dad believed he need to learn the ropes. he would rather be doing math homework at that point. “i’d love to but my dad’s got me heading up this new project and not to mention finals are coming up plus with cleona and delaney doing their own things i feel like isabella needs to feel that her siblings are still there. she would love that, how about you come with me to pick her up and i’ll have my five minutes with her and you could spoil her to your hearts content and i could maybe get some studying done at home.” he gave her shoulders a gentle squeeze, not caring about how affectionate they were in public. “sound like a deal, ms.business lady.”

              “mom would have a heart attack.” he chuckled. he loved his parents but he also knew the next dinner party would gather some looks if isabella danced around with bright pink hair and he couldn’t blame them for wanting to protect the family image and overall the company’s image. “dad would get a good laugh out of it but mom, remember how she lectures we’d be stuck here for a good day with just her lecturing.” he gave delaney a smile as he looked down at her, bouncing on his feet slightly as he let their youngest sister sleep in his arm and he really didn’t want to let go of her. “she’ll be back with more energy than ever, i’m scared she won’t even go to bed but with a little more running around later, she may just pass out.” mekhai never made it know how busy life got, he just usually dealt with it. he spent so much time at work and when he wasn’t there he was at school or in the house making sure isabella’s homework was done.  he doesn’t remember a time when he just got to relax and it seemed like his father wanted to move him up and he was terrified. “just make you get that taken care of. how’s work been?”

               “cleona, she’s oddly obsessed with her cars. i personally don’t care for material things, fuck, i even worked a whole summer in the mailroom at the company back in high school just to buy my first car. i was very into my own indepence.” he chuckled. “i got a lot of paper cuts that summer. permanent scars now.” he joked again, dramatically looking at his fingers to add to the whole effect. “there’s work then there’s school then there’s home life and i love being a big brother; so i do use every bit of free time to hang out with isabella.” he yawned, giving her a gentle press on the shoulder as he held her close to him. he may have left out the late night vigilantism.

                for awhile it had been him and his twin then they got delaney and he loved her instantly. sure she made his life a pain at times but there was never a moment he wouldn’t protect her from the worst. he do anything for her. “you should hang out with her more, you’d hear all the stories of how she wants pink hair like a certain big sister.” he says with a quirked eyebrow at her as he felt their younger sister breathing ease into a slowly pattern. realizing the girl was asleep, “and it seems like i’m not the only one who got tuckered out.” mekhai usually worked off a busy schedule from working at the family company to all going to his classes and finishing up assignments he still made time to hang out with the small girl. “i’m fine, now let’s see how bad that burn is.”
