6.05.2026 // it's finally autumn, only a month late.
this will be my first full autumn-winter in this city and i'm looking forward to the cold. i skipped winter all of last year thanks my fieldwork. i plan to lock in and just write my thesis so that i'm on track to producing a first full draft by the end of the year.

struggling with the current chapter that i am writing; once again, the feeling that i've bitten off more than i can chew. i'm dealing with the stress by procrastinating, which is of course causing even more stress. last week of teaching and then off to marking assignments.
a friend told me that she's finally submitting her phd thesis next week and i actually gasped out loud. when i had first met her 2.5yrs ago, she had just come back from her fieldwork and was struggling to get back into writing. we will eventually get there.
i hate how homework is all on virtual platforms now like yes i need my computer to do my homework but do you know what else is on the computer? the internet
University is so funny, you get to sit through challenging classes and learn about complex subjects that have been studied by the greatest minds that ever lived. And then on the bus ride home you overhear someone talking about how they put a plastic bowl in the oven
We’ve been enjoying evening walks around the ville, decorating the shelves, and exploring the massive local library. Now it really feels like we’ve settled into our new home :-)

very disappointing when someone says "the bird app" and for one lovely moment I think they are talking about Merlin Bird ID by Cornell Lab, the free app that allows you to identify birds by appearance or sound, make a list of birds you have seen, and explore all the birds native to your region.... and then I realize they are talking about twitter.
Libraries are sneaky, because once you go in, it's soo easy to get a library card, and once you have one, you can pretty much grab one of everything of all the stuff they have there with no consequence, and take it home. But then once you're home and you've read all the stuff you'll have to go back to the library to return the stuff, and once you're at the library again, you're at the library again, so might as well pop in to see what they got, and then you're hauling half their shit home again, and then you'll need to return to the library to return them, so you're at the library again
And the next thing you know you've read 3000 books, your crops are clear and your skin is watered, an angel descents from the heaven to suck your dick twice a week, and also you've got some books to return so you've got a perfectly valid reason to go pop in to the library. Just a little bit.
why did elementary and middle school teachers get so mad when you finished your work early and did silent reading? I was an A/B student and some of them would be so pissed when I finished my test within 15 minutes and whipped out my N. D. Wilson novel or whatever

it's honestly been such a long week. everything is piling up and happening at once and as a type a person i HAVE to plan everything out, but i still get overwhelmed about the upcoming things even though i've been preparing lol. next wednesday is my last "big thing" i've been prepping for so i'm sooooo close to finally having my big exhale and letting go of the stress of the end of the semester

cut down my presentation notes to fit the 5-7 min limit & copied onto note cards
final edits & submitted (took way longer than i thought)
worked on a notes outline for some meetings next week
this was actually my longest work day in a while, i worked for like 7hrs (and did a discord study hall w friends)
made a meal plan spreadsheet (had way too much laptop screen time this day)
thursday (day 25)
last min presentation prep
presented my poster (i have to get better at public speaking ughhhh)
6 hour shift + 4 page paper + 30/50 practice questions for my accounting exam tmr. let me out of here. also currently having the worst heartburn but i have 30 min left before i can go home and get anti-acids. i need a 56% on my accounting exam tomorrow to get an 80.01% (so a B-). idk if i can do it but i'll try lmao.
