Shutting Doors
Today, we announce the worst. Ketch is shutting down, effective immediately.
Personally, this breaks me. This was my life for 3 years. It was full time—ambitious, hard, and FULL TIME. Others that joined the team also voluntarily sunk extra hours into Ketch they didn't need to, this enthused me. Everyone I hired was greater than I could have wanted, all for different reasons. Everyone left their mark both on the company and myself personally.
The same goes for our investors, bar our primary investor—who at first were equally great, however progressively inhibited innovation and progress on Ketch by forcing us to deal with their monumental screw ups.
When you’re a pre-revenue business, and your primary investor suddenly reveals they’ve had "extraordinary delay" closing their investment round... your world changes. Rapidly. Although I tried to treat this like any hurdle a startup faces, it became clear over time that this root cause was having repercussions I couldn’t have imagined.
Thus, we close. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions at [email protected].
To everyone who worked on Ketch; interviewed; beta tested; angel invested; listened to a pitch; cast opinions; recommended; introduced.. thank you ever so much.
