"Have you ever retired a human by mistake?" - Rachael in Blade Runner (1982) art by @jamesjeanart My thoughts on the film: It's a very thick noir-sci-fi film with an unusually impressive delivery. By thick I mean it offers every details the genre has to: endless night time, rain and smoke, and psychotic Artificial Intelligence(s) in a beyond-repair world (imagine Gothan city for your own visualization). It is dark, strange and cruel. For me, personally, this thematic complexity contributes massively to the entire film. It makes the display and the story more intense, thrilling, and mysterious. I mentioned 'unusual' earlier, right? It has something to do with the use of some elements to depict the futuristic life that has been rotten and irreparable. The background score for example. They use multicultural and unique background music that helps narrate the scenes. It mingles really well with the tone of the film. I can't think of a good way to put it, but it is like a haunting howl. It sounds sad, daunting, yet beautiful at the same time, the effort that gives me an extremely special movie going experience. Then, I came to the last great 30 minutes of the film: The ultimate mano o mano between two significant characters. In this vicious 'Hide and Seek', the two learn that they share similarities -- they both hunt and are hunted, both are scared and in pain. And it is revealed that fear is what moves them to do what they do. I was profoundly moved by the monologue Roy character delivers at the end, suggesting that there is still humanity in him. It really does raise him morally. I am now preparing myself to watch the sequel, Blade Runner 2049, released earlier this year. What a shame I didn't watch it in the cinema. Shame! Shame! One of the finnest horror movies at least in the last 10 years. Really. I'm not a big fan of the genre, but this one is special. (Because) Not only am I a fan of Stephen King's, but besides its nerve-cracking story, it also delivers heartwarming and endearing accounts. And DAMN IT, 2017's Pennywise is major-terrifying. Oh sorry, I mean T.E.R.R.I.F.Y.I.N.G. I was massively petrified to see an evil hideous clown terrorizing kids and growing stronger in their fears. I love the story, the performances (Oh Eddie is my MVP. This one is way better than the miniseries has), and the visual packaging. I could go for the second time, but Im too traumatized to take the risk. Because, to be honest, it was a bit too much compare to how I envisioned it when I read the book, let alone the 1990's version. I'd rather wait for the digital release. To be honest, I was expecting some bad crying face, followed by swollen eye-lid though. Nonetheless, It is a heart-pounding movie with cinematic beauties.

When ambition encounters fears, it’ll result nothing but frustration. And that ugly side of “passion” turns intensely into obsession. Whiplash captures it in one whole intense, inspiring, and well-written story. Our hero, Andrew, is a young jazz drummer who aspires to be one of the greats. He is craving for acknowledgment and not to mention affection from both his family and his sadistic music teacher. The problem is, though, he is too afraid to take a stand. It makes him an a*hole at some points. The story is throughly moving, that I believed I could somehow play drums as well haha. Jazz is not a genre of music I usually jam on, but the movie can convincingly show me that the kind of genre is actually jam-able. The credit goes to the filmmaker with breath-taking talent, Damien Chazell whoohoo. The powerful and jaw-dropping performances from the leads, J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller, take the film to another level. They’re both brilliant. I was stunned. Final words, Whiplash gives me chills all the way from the start to its triumphant ending. It is definitely one of those movie that I will musclelessly recommend to literally everybody, in an un-low-key way haha. Mamal is coming. Run, guys, run! Mamal.

This mind-bending show has devoured my mind and soul, and now i’m gonna have to wait until next year for season 2. How is that even possible?

My newfound obsession. Legion. It’s bold, thrilling, and oddly amusing. You don’t always know what’s real and what’s not, but the bizarre-thrilling tone of the show gives you some genuine tense and excitement at the same time. It’s so cool that it departs itself from the traditions superhero series generally and usually present. Saying that it’s good is an understatement 👌👊
