“Protective and a little jealous, maybe he senses the second baby coming and stealing his thunder.” Declan laughed, feeling a little sorry for the dog because he knew the baby would steal a good amount of the attention they gave him, but Declan knew better than to think him and Mackenzie would ever not give Cosmo enough attention, so the sympathy was short lived. “What did they say?” The blonde’s brows lifted in curiosity, if anyone were going to be as supportive as him he had imagined it were those two, and he was kind of excited to talk to Mackayla himself, the two having grown close since he began dating Mackenzie. Declan sighed at the thought of it all, even with how weird it was the man was overly excited about it all, maybe more than he would have ever anticipated. “Me neither, a year ago I would have probably guessed we’d be in Bora Bora or something.” Declan laughed, “Riding sea turtles, not… this.” But he couldn’t be more grateful with the sudden change of events, “And now we’ll just be going to Bora Bora for our baby moon.” He fell silent, everything still processing in his head, sure he was excited, but the more he thought about it the more it dawned on him how much everything was going to change, now he was a father, and although monetarily that wouldn’t be a problem at all, he wondered more and more how they’d step into the parent roles. “I love you. I can’t believe this is happening, but I love you so much, you’re going to be the most amazing mother.”

They were all plausible guesses, it was only unfortunate that Cosmo couldn’t actually tell them what was going on.  “Poor boy,” sticking out her bottom lip in a pout she lifted her chin so she would be able to see the dog who was still lying comfortably at the end of their bed. “we’ll just have to spoil him extra hard before the baby comes so he doesn’t feel too left out,” She placed her hand over Declan’s which was still static on her stomach. “Or who knows, maybe Cosmo and the baby will be best friends and we’ll be the ones who are left out,” She laughed at her own words since of course being the parents they would have to take care of them both and could never actually be left out. “I’m pretty sure that Mackenna was excited, but she’s also so mellow that it’s hard to tell all the time,” Kenzie laughed. “And Kayla was so excited she almost face timed you. I literally had to beg her to let me tell you in person. I think she is more excited that this means you never get to leave me now than the fact that we’re having a baby,” Although sometimes it was frustrating how close Declan and Mackayla were she was ultimately glad that Declan got along with all of her sister so well. And she was sure he had moments just like that with her and Mina. “baby moon?” Mackenzie laughed gently. “is that a thing?” though she had never heard the phrase before the brunette was never one to say no to a vacation, and having Declan all to herself for even just a week sounded more than amazing at this point. “I love you so much. You think so?” Mackenzie wasn’t so sure about that. She loved kids, and having so many nieces and nephews already had definitely prepared her for that, but she had always felt like she’d be much better in the supporting role of raising kids than taking the lead. “We do alright with that one,” she nodded to cosmo, who she had been referring too. “I just don’t know if I can top Mr. ‘i’m Declan O’leary, let me watch your kids while you’re on a conference call,” the tall girl teased with a quick giggle, as she leaned in to kiss him again, letting it last longer this time. “I think we’re gonna be okay...”

“A little me?” Declan laughed, of course in contrast he wanted a little Mackenzie running around, but he was sure their kid would end up being the perfect combination of the both of them. “I love you more.” Declan promised, looking over to their dog, who was in an unusually calm mood, “I just figured he was sick or something, weird. Dogs have sixth sense for that kind of stuff?” He kept Mackenzie as close as possible his arms not wanting to let her go, “So when did you find out? Did you tell anyone yet? Your sisters?” Declan wouldn’t have been upset if she did go to the other girls first, especially since all of them were professionals in the area and he was sure she probably freaked out a bit at first, “This is weird right? I feel like it’s not real.”

“Yeah, my sister’s dog always acts weird when she’s pregnant, protective almost but her dog is also a she. Maybe this is Cosmo’s way of being protective,” saying the word even felt different now. It wasn’t a bad different, more like the word now triggered her mind to think about the fact that there was a baby growing inside of her, different. As he held her in his arms the brunette cuddled into his torso. Declan was always pretty affectionate towards Mackenzie but she found the almost immediate difference in how he was holding her a little funny. “uh, when I was in L.A. for that swim shoot last weekend. Only a couple days,” The news had really caught her off guard then. It was still sinking in with her, and she was certain it would take a while for it to sink in with Declan to as well. “Mackayla and Mackenna were there when I found out but nobody else knows, I wanted you to know first,” When she thought back on it Mackenzie almost wished that they had found out together, but there was always the possibility of a next time and maybe then the two of them would be more prepared. “No, it’s totally weird,” she agreed with a quick nod of her head. “Now that I know I definitely notice things that make it feel real, but I don’t think I’m going to fully believe it until I start showing,” Looking down at her stomach again she let out a content sigh and shook her head. “I mean, a year ago I never would have guessed that we’d be having this conversation right now,” Mackenzie always knew that this would happen eventually, but if someone had asked her back then where she and Declan would be at this moment she most likely would have said something along the lines of cliff- jumping in Fiji, but now that they were here she could happily admit that there was absolutely no place she would rather be.

“Mad?” Declan then forgot about the box and the gifts altogether, pushing them to the side as he pulled the girl in close, kissing the top of her head before lifting her chin and kissing her slowly on her lips. “Mackenzie why on earth would I be mad about that? This is…” He rested his chin back on the top of her head as he held her close, “This is..major news. But I can’t be mad at the thought of having a baby with you… it might be a little sooner than we ever talked about, but it’s something we’ve talked about.” He was panicking on the inside, mostly because he didn’t know what they’d actually be getting themselves into, but he also knew if he was getting into it with anybody it was going to be Mackenzie. Although he was scared beyond belief he couldn’t help but a little part of him be excited about it, “And now..” he let one of his hands travel down to the girls stomach, “It’s here. Uh–how do you feel?”

Mackenzie didn’t really know why she thought Declan might be mad. Maybe because he had only just recently gotten back into work and the two of them had only officially moved in together around the same time, though they had basically been living together back at school anyways. Plus, Declan loved kids, even if they were still on the younger side to be having their own.  She kissed him back, a large smile on her own face once their lips separated. “I mean, you pretty much said it. It wasn’t exactly the timing I was planning on,” Her eyes followed his hand to where it had settled on her stomach and she leaned back on her hands to give Declan more space. "It still doesn’t feel completely real ,but I’m kind of excited to have a little you running around here,” Whether it ended up being a girl or boy didn’t matter to her, but she did hope that whatever they were they took after Declan in both looks and personality. She looked up to Declan again, lifting herself up to meet his lips again. “I love you,” she smiled against his lips before catching sight of their dog who was curled up on the floor at the edge of their bed. “I think Cosmo was trying to tell me last weekend before I left to L.A. and I just thought he kept needing to go outside,” The model scoffed at herself. “, and probably why he’s been so calm since I got home.”

“Present?” Declan furrowed his brows, they usually didn’t try to do presents on Valentine’s day, and if they did it was always barely anything, like something for them both to share, “Why’d you get me something?” The blonde propped himself up on an elbow as he took box from the girl, it wasn’t hard to read the girl, something seemed off the way she buried her face after giving him the box, he reached over tickling her on her hip as he so often did, “What the hell Kenz..” he questioned, more to her behavior than anything, but he began to open the box anyways, taking the lid to reveal the black sweater. Declan quickly noticed the familiar colors of their favorite movie series and the pattern of the letters before unfolding it enough to where he could actually read what the shirt said. he kept it in his hands but glanced over to Mackenzie, “Really?” The boy needed the girl to look at him, “Kenz..” He set the shirt down only to make visible the small test that came along with it, the little purple plus sign clear as day, “Mackenzie Wexner, are you serious?” 

Mackenzie had anticipated all of these questions, especially since it was out of the ordinary for the two of them to exchange gifts on valentine’s day, but she had also been hoping she was wrong about that and he would open the box first and ask questions later. “Well, Technically you gave this to me,” she mumbled, not wanting to give it away before she even had the chance to open the ‘gift’. The suspense was killing her. “Can you just open it,” Kenzie questioned impatiently, before feeling the unexpected  jerk of his hand against her side. “Hey!” She yelped, a soft laugh followed the noise and she turned again, onto her back this time as she finally opened her eyes. “I know its super cheesy, but I didn’t know how to say it...” it was no secret that Mackenzie wasn’t the best with words, but even more so when it came to something as big as this she preferred actions to say it for her. “I’m serious,” she nodded at his next question. Pushing herself up so that she was sitting upright. “Are you mad?” The model brought her bottom lip between her teeth as she waited for him to respond again.

Declan got caught into more work than he signed up for, which was usual, and although he wished he could have walked away hours ago to go spend time with Mackenzie, he knew it wasn’t an option, something he was still adjusting to. Although technically he could leave whenever he wanted, he knew the first couple months back to work after his hiatus needed to reflect an eager ready to work again Declan, hence the not leaving, When he finally did manage to be freed from the constrains of the shoot he was doing that day, he went to grab Mackenzie’s and his own favorite Chinese take out for them, then headed straight to their apartment. He knew by the lack of Mackenzie’s presence in the front room that she must have fallen asleep, and he laughed at himself a little bit for letting them keep him for so long, although he knew she’d wake up and they could do whatever it is they decided on. The blonde walked into the bedroom and approached Mackenzie, kicking his shoes off so he could climb next to her in the bed, wrapping his arm around her waist he pulled the sleeping girl towards his body, kissing her shoulder once she was close enough, “Baby girl, wake up.” The boy leaned down kissing her warm skin once more, “C’mon I got dinner.”

Mackenzie wasn’t sure how long she had been asleep, but it felt like no time at all before the familiar pair of arms were wrapped around her middle. “Ugh...”  she groaned, placing her arms over his and holding them against her. “do we have to?” her words were muttered as she was still half asleep. Not bothering to open her eyes the tall girl turned in his arms so that she was facing him and she buried her face in his chest. She would have been more than content spending the night in bed with Declan, “Did you get Chinese?” she could smell it on his clothes. this sentence being only slightly more cognitive than the last. though it had woken her up enough to remember that she still had something to tell him and she needed to do it before he found out on his own. Which if she was right wouldn’t be too much longer.  “okay, fine, I’ll get up but you have to open your present first,” blindly she reached behind her onto the nightstand beside the bed and grabbed the black box that was tied shut with a thick gold ribbon. The two of them had had quite a few conversations about kids, probably more than most young couples but even then it had always seemed like such a distant thing, which made her nervous to see her boyfriends reaction. As he opened the box she kept her face hidden underneath Declan’s arm, and her eyes shut tight.

“for the last time– no!” the brunette said angrily, throwing her hand towards the sign that hung on the wall behind her which stated you had to have been born no later than 1997 to be served legally at Black Tap. “you’ll have better luck begging an actual adult outside a liquor store. we don’t serve minors.” ali insisted.

“my I.D. clearly states that I was born in 1994, so I don’t see what the problem is,” Setting her fake I.D. down on the bar she motioned for the older brunette to look at it again. Sure, Ali most likely knew who she was, but Mackenzie’s identification said otherwise, and that was supposed to be what really counted.
