I didn’t want to give you false hope in case I was never able to move on. What’s worse than you waiting for a moment when I welcomed you back and it never came? I know that this situation isn’t ideal… I know there’s things I should have done differently, but I can’t change that.

Is there anything I can do to change that?

Anything would have been something.

Yes, and I exiled you to a part of the city where you didn’t have to be under anyone until there came a time that I was able to look past it. In the end I understand why you did what you did. If my brother were alive, I would have done anything for him.

If there’s anything that I’ve learned about this city, people are going to talk and question my leadership anyway, so I may as well give them a reason to do it while doing something I want. Hedgestone is your home, always has been. Knowing that you could be stuck in Greenpoint when you had the option of coming home made me realize that I’m failing you as a friend.

If the plan was for me to come back... why did you never tell me? I made a life where I am because I thought I didn’t have a place to go to. I wouldn’t have put ties here if I knew there was another choice. I would have chosen differently.

I’m not going to force you, Kendra, if you really wish to stay. I would sleep better at night knowing you were back with me, so I’m not above begging.

I had my suspicions when you called.

“I feel like like that’s usually how it is, the children always prefer the parent that doesn’t have them currently,” Benji said as he gently took fussy child from the Kendra’s arms, patting his back as he went. He read it was soothing, but he still had no idea. “Now that you mention it, no I didn’t expect to. I knew Georgiana when she was pregnant but just knowing what most everyone else can do in this house, seeing children is weird. A good weird, don’t get me wrong. It’s nice… seeing everyone live their lives.” 

Kendra smiled and watched as Benji held Fletcher, shaking her head with indignation as the baby started to settle slightly. “It’s definitely not company one would expect to include children. I never thought of it for myself, but it’s nice. Fletch threw up on Judas yesterday, seeing him wear baby barf will be a memory I keep forever.”  

Well, he’s not wrong, but he definitely takes it to a personal level of hate. Newspapers are usually never right.
