kelsey-robinsonâ:
There is was again, that all familiar bubbling feeling in Kelseyâs stomach, like jumping beans trying to escape as she shakily applied pale pink eyeliner trying not to smudge it too badly. Valentines day was usually the kind of holiday that passed her by without so much as a second thought, Galentines day on the other hand? Well that had been more her speed for the last couple of years. Buying or drawing things for her best friends to make sure they knew how loved they were, but this year was different. The weekend with Keys in LA had somewhat cemented their relationship into something more âformalâ if that word could even be used when it came to the two of them, since they existed in her eyes on their own plane of relationship definition. Who told their boyfriend they loved them for the first time at the side of their sisterâs grave? Kelsey Robinson did apparently. As strange as that was it felt intrinsically right to her - for them. Even without trying theyâd managed to be different from the rest of the world in a whole other level, making their own way to where they needed to be.
Tonight though she was quite literally concealing a huge secret from him under her shirt. As soon as theyâd returned from LA sheâd gone the next day to the tattoo parlour to put into action her plan for his Valentines day gift. Some would call it stupid, foolish to get something etched onto her body that was a signifier of a relationship that no one could be certain would last, but Kelsey didnât care about that. Firstly she couldnât see an instance where the pair failed, it was a foreign concept really, but secondly she saw nothing wrong with a permanent reminder of everything she and Keys shared. Even if they crashed and burned that wouldnât erase the happy times where she felt like she was walking on air through showers of stars while holding his hand. It wouldnât take away the memory of his soft brown eyes gazing at her when her own fluttered open in the morning, or how his lips brushing against the mole on her cheek always sent a ripple of shivers down her spine making her lips stretch out into a perfectly calm smile. None of those things would change, and she wanted a reminder of them whenever she looked at herself.Â
Having spent hours working on the design of The Creation of Adam hands but interchanged with replications of her own and Keysâ sheâd finally managed to get it perfectly placed across the scarring under her left breast. Even now as she looked in the mirror one last time it tingled making its presence known as it finished healing. At a point now where it looked good instead of like a freshly tattooed scabby mess - that wouldnât have been particularly romantic to show him after all. There was part of her that knew whatever happened it would be exactly the evening she and Keys deserved because somehow they seemed to have a way of always making sure things fell into place, even by dumb luck, but that didnât stop her from wanting to do everything she could to nudge things in that direction. The knock on her front door was the signal heâd arrived, Kelsey had asked if they could just do something at home - her home - specifically so she could show him her special rather private gift for him. After all she was in a rather revealing crop top to give easy access to the newly tattooed area and it probably wasnât something she should really be wearing to a public space. It was actually more like a bra than anything. On top of that the weekend at the Grammy awards had been so extravagant with Keys spending so much money on her that she couldnât bare the idea of him doing that all over again so quickly. Making sure her shoes were on properly even as she was making her way to the door the blonde did a kind of skipping hop to get there, yanking it open with a grin that might as well be made of fireworks, the delight at seeing him evident from space. Without saying anything her hands went behind his neck so she could pull her boyfriend in for a kiss, pressing herself up against him. âHappy Valentines day.â She whispered once she finally pulled away enough to speak. @ofmckeys
đž Â
His birthday falling on valentines day always seemed like nothing but a curse. The day he was born being dedicated to reminding him year after year that he had no one to celebrate much of anything with seemed like a fitting slight on top of the rest of the knives life seemed to throw at him from the moment he was born. Itâs why, once he had the means, he spent every year on his birthday doing some sort of volunteering. It was one of the things that actually made him happy to do, especially when he got to work with kids and animals. Entertaining kids with crafts and teaching them arts and instruments, or bathing and bottle feeding animals, wasnât something he reserved exclusively for his birthday, even though it was the day he looked forward to doing it most. It replaced the sense of having nowhere to be with empathy and purpose. It was the moments in between the rest of the chaos in his life he clung too. But today, for the first time, he actually had a valentine. Someone of his very own to share his birthday with. The most special person in the world, he was entirely convinced, at that.
The occasion was so special an overwhelming to him, heâd spent the day rather quietly trying to get his present together. Heâd spent the past year leaving presents and letters outside her door anonymously, but this was completely different. That was when he believed it impossible for the two of them to ever be together to the degree that heâd settled for remaining unknown, as long as it meant he could let her know how loved she was, even if from afar. Now here she was swinging the door open for him as he stands excited and nervous. Just the sound of her feet padding excitedly to the door causes him to smile and when she opens it, the breath leaves his lungs and without thinking, his arms wrap around her slender frame. Lifting her gently from the ground as he embraces and kisses her, he takes a few steps into the place, gently kicking the door closed behind him. This is better than anything he could have ever imagined about not only being in love, but having someone to share it with at all. Just the feeling of her in his arms is the closest thing to complete he already knows heâll ever feel.
Keys giggles into the kiss, lips slide happily along hers as he walks, carries her further into the apartment. When he sets her down and she looks up at him, he canât help but lean forward again, scattering kisses across her face as he mumbles in return. âHappy valentines day, starshine.â Pulling back a little more, just to shrug the backpack from his shoulders, he finally notices what sheâs wearing. The crop top far more daring than her usual affair. In fact his lips part as his jaw falls slightly open at the sight of her breasts half hanging out her shirt. Something that almost causes him to grin mischievously in response at the thought that sheâd have put something like that on for him, until he notices the design on her ribcage. At first his brow furrows, a look of concern thinking she may have hurt herself as he bends immediately to take a closer look. When he realizes itâs another tattoo, thereâs immediate relief and a slight smile again. He loves tracing and kissing the details of her others already, the excitement at seeing it at first is based on that and hearing her tell the story about what it means and how it came to be immediately bubble forth, without even knowing a lick of context. Heâs just happy for her, knowing how much the art on her body means to her. âYou got this one over one of your storiesâŚâ Still smiling, he observes softly as he reaches out and delicately traces a thumb over the drawing. Keys bends and squints tryingtrying to take in the details for a few moments before making a gruff noise and wrapping large hands around her waist, scooping her up with a twirl and a laugh before playfully carrying her over to the couch where they can sit and he can get a better look.
He sets her down after he sits back on the couch so that sheâs straddling his lap before he gets back to work, work, taking in the art on her skin. Â Pushing the glasses up the bridge of his nose, it still doesnât register to him that the hands are theirs. Far beyond him to even comprehend sheâd do something like that although he does notice the difference from the original work. âThis hand is different. Itâs softer. More del-i-cate.â He over annunciates the word because heâs always loved that one in particular and applying it here on kelsey makes it mean even more. His fingers trace along the arm he can tell is more feminine than the work itâs based on.
Letting out a delighted squeal as he scoops her up to bring her back into the room she enthusiastically kisses him back, hands resting on his shoulders as she wraps her legs around his waist. Not wanting the moment to end prematurely, this wasnât just valentines day this was also the day her best friend had been born, so the main priority to Kelsey was making sure it exceeded his expectations in every single way she could manage. As sheâs set down with kisses peppering her face she feels the familiar blush of delight flooding her cheeks squirming with how thrilled she was just to be in the same vicinity as him, anytime they were apart feeling like something was missing from her. An arm, a leg, no something far more vital. She was missing part of her heart, but right now he was there in front of her and the blonde couldnât be more thrilled. Her heart rate picks up considerably as he takes in her tattoo with his keen eyes, wondering if heâll work out what it is that makes this particular one so special but he didnât seem to be thus far. âI did, because I found a better story. A much better story I want to be able to remember for the rest of my life.â Wanting to blurt out exactly why this specific tattoo was so important but also needing to make sure she told him exactly right. Unable to decide how before she was scooped up again, spinning around with a sparkling laugh, as she was set down on top of her on the sofa she dipped her head so she can can press her lips against his once more. Feeling his hands against her waist, bare skin against her own, god it was intoxicating. If he was a drug then Kelsey didnât want to ever be clean because any consequence of Keys was worth it and then some. âHey, happy birthday my love.â She whispered as her hair falling either side of her face created curtains around them blocking them off from the rest of the world, their own little cocoon of love as she gazed into his soft eyes with a swell of love bursting in her chest. âHappy birthday to the greatest person to ever have been born onto the planet we call earth, that is a cesspit of so much negative, but now it has you it does nothing but shine brightly. You make every day better.â Pulling back so she can brush her finger across his bottom lip with a gentle expression, her own being tugged between her teeth.Â
Once sheâd pulled back to let him look once more at the tattoo that was clearly visible under the scraps of material she was passing off as a top, her eyes took him in hungrily to see if she could spot any kind of recognition in the forms of the fingers or hands, but counting on nothing. It was of course so subtle. Sheâd weaved things that made them intrinsically them together with the classic design so that it wouldnât be obvious to any but those privy what the special meaning behind the tattoo was, so they could keep it as theirs. âDelicateâŚmaybeâŚ.a bitâŚâ She murmured, hand moving to rest over his as it traced the arm, moving it across to the other hand smoothly. âAnd this handâŚlook at it, itâs the hand of someone who knows how to play music, how to turn words and sounds into works of art. Itâs soft too but itâs strong.â Eyes flicking up to look at his face, still feeling the flutter of her heart in her chest not pausing for even a moment.Â
âI designed the tattoo myself. I drew it, using real people as the muse.â Drip feeding the information so as not to overwhelm him too much all in one go - after all getting a tattoo of your partners hand so soon into the relationship might be too far for many people. Hopefully Keys was not one of those people. All Kelsey wanted was to see that winning smile spread across his lips once more the way sheâd seen it do so many times, lighting up his eyes, making the corners of them crinkle as his glasses slipped down his nose. If that sight was edible it would be the most coveted dish in the world. âThis hand on the left is my hand, you see how the wrist goes in slightly there like mine does? I used a photo from last weekend in LA that you took of me, worked on it on the plane home. You were napping like a cute little puppy.â Ducking to press her lips against his softly, a whisper of a kiss, the hairs on her arms standing up with the prickle of desire. âThen the other hand, I used a photo I took inspiration from a photo I found online, on a very specific instagram actually. Itâs probably someone you know - Iâm surprised you donât recognise it since youâre tracing the lines with the exact hand that provided the inspiration.â Sitting up to deduce if he was putting two and two together. Understanding that the hands on her ribs belonged to the two of them. âThe hands are reaching out for each other for the rest of eternity because no matter how far the gap feels between them they know they only need to reach out and theyâll find exactly who theyâre looking for. It covers my scar because that is part of the old me, but you? You are the part of the new me. We. It is our hands. We are the story now. Do you like it?â This was only one of the many gifts sheâd gotten for him today but it was the one she was most anticipating giving him after all.Â
