honestly the fact that hating cats for no fucking reason is considered normal and hating dogs for no reason OR even a valid reason is considered absurd has to do with the fact that cats are seen as feminine and are loved by women and dogs are seen as masculine and a mans best friend here you have it

This is the type over analyzing I need to pass my rhetoric class

this has literally been proven and there are hundreds of thinkpieces about this. the “female feline and male muff” trope exists. Theres a reason why children think that all cats are girls and all dogs are boys and grow up thinking that men can only like dogs. Theres still this thing where men get their masculinity questioned for liking cats. Theres also the “crazy cat lady” trope, or the fact that when a woman likes cats a lot (like you would also like dogs) she automathically gets called crazy. Women are often forced to act masculine to be seen as cool by men, when you tell a man you like dogs or have a big dog they all see you as less feminine and think that youre “not like the other women”. Cats also look more feminine and have historically a deep connection to women, even now cats and cat attributes are still pin pointed to women (think: cat eyes, catty, pussy etc etc) It literally takes a 3 minute google search to find this out. I wrote this super quick and you could say much more about this but im not about to write a whole research paper for tumbler dot com.
