A Vaguely Interesting Person

Eärendil’s fate is pretty much a horror story though. he wanted to choose the fate of men, he wanted to die like a mortal and receive the unknown mortal afterlife. but doing so would separate him from his wife, who chose the elven path, so he forsake the mortal freedom beyond the circles of the world. except he couldn’t even really benefit from the choice to live as an elf because he got stuck on Morgoth guard duty in outer space, rather than living in the bliss of Valinor. he’s alone out there in the vastness of the firmament, six thousand years with no friends but the stars. he hasn’t seen his sons since they were six, and he never got to meet his grandkids. and when the day comes that Morgoth strikes back, Eärendil will be the first to witness those horrors. sure, it’s for a good cause, but I wonder if he ever regrets it all
