Mum and dad never should have been married in the first place. I know what you’re doing here, Elliott. I was scared, yes, I’ll admit that. But I was scared because I thought I wasn’t good enough for him. That I would just hold him down. Instead of talking about it with him, opening up to him about what was troubling me I ran away. I’ve no idea what exactly went wrong with Jasper and his ex, but these are just three cases where things just happend to go awry. That doesn’t mean every single relationship will be like that, people learn from their mistakes and they can use the knowledge they learned in their next relation. Max and Doucheface is a very special case in this one, because it deals with someone whose abusive and is the fucking scum of the earth. But again, not everyone is like that. What are you so scared off, Elliott? Oh… I don’t think I’ll do that.

And see where that got him, from one messed up break up into one messed up relationship. You’re not going to change my mind on this and frankly, I don’t see any reason for me to needing it changed either. Not to mention that I wouldn’t really come to you for relationship advice.

Oh you- you’re one to talk. If you want to live the rest of your life alone, with just random casual fucks who don’t give any shit about you, then fine. But don’t judge the rest of us for wanting to have someone on our side to be there through ups and downs. If you see that as desperate.. then- then so be it. I know I’m not. I just don’t want to live my life alone. 

That’s how I want to live, yes. Because that way, at least I won’t have some guy completely destroy me and everything I am. And yes, that is desperate. You’re desperate. Stop needing someone else to “complete” you and maybe your life wouldn’t be so sad.

Stop being so bloody pessimistic, there are enough couples that work out. Because they build on each other, they trust each other and they work on their relationship. Not everything is doomed to all internal hell. And really? A month is not enough to experience a proper relationship, that gives you nothing to work on. I stand by my case, you don’t know what a real relationship is like. I would never lose my shit against him, I thought you’d know me better than that. Yes, that I’ll try and remember. Don’t instantly think he’s not catching on, gotcha.

Yeah? Like mum and dad? Because they’re absolutely head over heels in love with one another, never a tense moment around them. Or like you and Max, which I’m sure you’re comparing this too, where you left because you were scared. Or maybe you’re thinking about Jasper and his ex, which he’s so messed up from that he doesn’t even know that he actually matters. Or Max and jerkface, who started this entire conversation to begin with. Of course, I’m just being pessimistic. I’m not talking physically here, you losing your mind won’t do much good either.

Yes, I want to take the chance! Because not everything ends badly! Some people actually like taking risks, because it could lead somewhere, instead of staying stuck in a miserable life all alone. I’m not blindly trusting him, but I do actually want to get to know people. I don’t feel like living my entire life alone, and if it takes dating people and getting to know them and then perhaps finding out I don’t like them like that, well… isn’t that life? Isn’t that what normal people do?

Life is what you make of it, Jasper, If you choose to be miserably alone, you will be. I’m not dating and I’m great, wouldn’t have it any other way. If you would perhaps stop being so desperate for other people to approve of you, you’d get that as well. 

Wanting to spent the rest of your life with someone doesn’t automatically turn you into a mental case, nor does it mean you’re obsessed. A healthy relationship is the one where you both have your own thing, but y’know… you’ve never experienced that so… You don’t exactly have a right of talking. You could be right. Perhaps it’s time to genlty start guiding him to what would be the end of them. To try and make him see just how much Doucheface is ruining. suppose that all he needs is someone who tells him everything that is wrong.. Do you think he’d take it from me? What if he assumes I’m just doing it because I’m jealous? I just don’t want him more hurt than he already is, El, not if I can help it. And I don’t want him upset at me, because that could mean he’ll shut me out. Yeah, okay… 

Yeah, it does. I’ve yet to see someone in love with someone that hasn’t turned into nothing but half of a couple. But I have experienced it. Once, when I was sixteen, it lasted all in all about a month. Waste of time, really. Of course I’m right, I know what I’m talking about. As long as you don’t lose your shit and actually have a regular conversation about it, it should be fine. Have some patience with the fact that he’s going to go into defence mode. If he’ll listen to anyone, it’s you. If he shuts you out, it’s most likely because he needs time. Let him take the time he needs.

It’s what you implied, Elliott. Not everyone is a douchebag, and not everyone just screws around with someone for a single night. Some people are actual decent human beings.

It’s what you chose to make from it, there’s a difference. You’d be surprised by how many out there are just that, looking for someone to screw around with. But if you want to take the chance, then be my fucking guest. Just don’t come crying when he’s done playing with you.

Yes, because closing your heart off and never taking a chance on something is such a good way to live. Maybe you should stop fooling yourself and open your eyes to what’s in front of you. Or in your case of course, living right there next to you. I have, actually. I’ve not been cursing, thank you very much. I’ve been listening, I’ve been listening non stop. I could write an entire case on everything Doucheface has done, bloody hell El, the poor thing jumps when someone as much as taps him on the shoulder. A book falling on the floor is enough to sent him into a right panic attack. It’s not so much what I’ve heard as much as what I’ve seen. If it comes to that, if I can actually get through to him on how awful Dick actually is to him, then we’ll see what we can do about the police. 

And turn into a mental case who’s addicted to having some “other half” to live their life properly? Or lose my own person because I’m too busy being obsessed with what someone else is doing? I’ll pass, thanks. Right, you’ve been listening. Maybe it’s time to start talking then. If you know so much, he would be an idiot to not hear you out on it. Stop being so worried about upsetting him all the time, because he’s going to be upset no matter what. Upset that his boyfriend is an abusive mental case, or upset how he didn’t see it coming, or upset that you would say something like that. You need to see what’s going to be the best for him in a week, a month, a year. Not right now, because he’s probably too messed up in the head to know that himself.

Not what I said. What I’m saying is that you’re too fucking nice to people and you don’t know him. I wouldn’t be able to deal with you if you find him fucking someone else behind your back as well.

Do you always have to be this freaking rude? Why can’t you just be happy for me that someone’s interested in me? It’s not that hard.
