And somewhere between podiums, panic, therapy sessions, and a sport that no longer feels the way it once did, Lando has to figure out whether recovery means letting Oscar go for good, or finally learning how to fight for what he wants.

ngl i like that you left it a bit ambiguous about lando’s racing, like up to the reader if he really retires or not. and !!!!! that scene with zak and andrea i didnt expect the boys to come out about their relationship and their reactions ??????? loved it, the last two chapters were such a good way to wrap it up

i know we have a sort of epilogue coming but now that the main story is finished i just want to throw my flowers to you, from the beginning this fic has been such a highlight for my sundays or back when it was updated in the middle of the week and i would read the new chapter instead of paying attention to my classes 😭👋 really i think its the first time i’ve been that invested in a story and even trying to engage with the author when i don’t normally do it because im shy lmaooo

Hello!! It has definitely been a wonderful up and down ride!

I really wanted to finish this fic with showing that Lando has learnt that being open and honest about himself and how he’s feeling is okay so that’s partly why I had them tell Zak and Andrea about their relationship (and also where he standing around retirement), but then also because I thought it would be a bit of a fun moment to have them be like duh we already knew cause let’s be honest, those boys were not subtle about how down bad they were for each other 🤣

As promised, here is part two is the game two chapter! I will start writing the next chapter in the next couple of days!

Oscar is sitting beside him on the couch when Lando finally says it. “Thank you.”

Oscar glances up from where he’s scrolling through his phone. “For what?”

“For coming today.”

Oscar’s expression softens. “Lando.”

“I’m serious.” Lando shifts closer until their knees are touching. “I know I asked you to come, but I also know that wasn’t exactly a small thing.”

Oscar puts his phone down completely. “You don’t have to thank me.”

“I do.” Lando reaches over and takes his hand. “You being there, experiencing it with me, meant everything to me.”

The words feel embarrassingly honest but they’re true. Oscar had sat beside him through every vulnerable admission, every uncomfortable conversation, every moment where Lando felt exposed, and he’d never once looked at him differently.

“You know,” Lando says quietly, “I genuinely didn’t think it was possible to love you more than I already do.”

Oscar’s eyebrows lift. “Oh yeah?”

Lando nods. “Then somehow you keep proving me wrong.”

A smile appears immediately on Oscar’s face, small and fond, the kind that always seems reserved just for Lando. “That’s a dangerous thing to tell me.”

“Why?”

“Because now I know I can keep raising the bar.”

Lando laughs. “God help me.”

Snippet:

His sisters reach him next, both hugging him and wishing him happy birthday. Their greetings turn into teasing in no time at all, ribbing him over his and Oscar’s little display of affection in front of anyone.

“Yeah,” Lando rubs the back of his neck. He looks over to Oscar who is still standing beside him. “Not exactly keeping a low profile are we?”

Oscar laughs with a shrug. “We don’t have to worry about that tonight. Everyone here knows.”

“Oh thank god,” Lando pulls Oscar in for another quick kiss just because he can.

A loud gagging noise immediately comes from behind them. “Oh my god, gross,” Flo says dramatically.

Cisca clutches her chest. “It’s like watching a Hallmark movie come to life.”

Lando doesn’t even look away from Oscar. “You can both leave.”

“We’re trying,” Flo replies. “But you two keep being disgustingly in love in public.”

Lando rolls his eyes while Oscar looks far too entertained by all of this. “You two done?”

“Not even close,” Flo says. Flo then steps forward and wraps Oscar in a hug. “Hi Oscar.”

Oscar lets out a surprised laugh before hugging her back. “Hi Flo.”

Something warm settles in Lando’s chest at the sight.

Then Cisca is stepping forward. “I want a hug too.” Oscar laughs as she pulls him into another embrace.

Flo points between them. “Just so we’re clear, if either of you ever hurts the other one again, we’re keeping Oscar this time.”

“Absolutely,” Cisca agrees.

Oscar raises an eyebrow. “You’d pick me?”

“Without hesitation.”

“Wow,” he smirks toward Lando.

“Sorry, brother,” Flo jokingly pats Lando on the shoulder.

Snippet:

Oscar eventually leans back in his chair. “Well...”

Lando raises an eyebrow. “Well what?”

Oscar’s mouth twitches. “You could become my full time WAG.”

Lando stares at him.

Oscar keeps going. “Travel the world supporting your incredibly talented boyfriend.” Oscar starts counting on his fingers. “You can carry my bags.”

“Absolutely not.”

“You can sit in the garage and look pretty.”

“I already do that.”

“You can wave at me from the paddock.” Oscar’s grin only grows. “And when I win races you’ll be waiting for me.”

Lando shakes his head. “I’ve created a monster.”

“Just wait until I start expecting fully cooked meals to be waiting for me by the time I get home,” Oscar jokes.

“And for the record,” Lando says.

“Hm?”

“You’re still carrying your own bags.”
