DC Continuity Help
Can someone point me to the issues/continuities in which Batman trained with the League of Assassins? It wasn't part of his original backstory, or when Ra's was first introduced, but then it was in the Nolan Trilogy? So I'm trying to find at what point it was introduced.
Here's one that rarely gets a mention: remember that time Batman gassed an entire prison with Scarecrow's fear toxin?
(Batman vol1 #415, 1988)
Which had already been established earlier in the same issue as a super-concentrated version:
(disclosure: I did crop out Jason's inner monologue here, just to keep the focus on Crane expositioning the gas)
Sure, the writer(s) tried to establish that it's okay because they are the worst, most evil villains, but:
That still has to fall under "cruel and unusual punishment"
They don't actually know what was included in the gas - he's just assuming it's a nonlethal hallucinogen
There are visibly at least two guards in that scene who would also end up dosed
There are more inmates shown than villains listed, so is DC taking the stance that non-supervillain criminals also deserve torture? Given this is nominally a psychiatric institute, so some of them must be there due to mental illness.
And I'm not even going to try to address the fact that Batman and Robin aren't wearing breathing protection 🙄🤦
Hi! An author's note about DC basically contorting their universe to make Batman always Right even when we all see he's not made me think of you. Hope you're doing ok!
omg you're so sweet! It warms my heart that someone thinks of me even when I haven't been posting.
I'm doing okay lately, and trying to get back into the swing of writing (if nothing else, I can't bear to leave all my half-written WIPs unposted)
Omg why is Nightwing trying so hard to show off his tits in this picture?
I guess for all the justified criticism on how comic women are drawn, at least some artists are being equal opportunity??
I took this from the DC Fandom page, so idk the comic source.

Looking for a specific MDZS fic
I don't know the tumblr etiquette for this, and have never posted about a non-Batman fandom, but hopefully someone knows this fic.
Time travel fix-it
Wangxian
They go to Cloud Recesses and literally fly away carrying LWJ's mom's house???
Pretty sure they encounter LWJ's dad while taking the house, but searching fics tagged time travel and Qingheng Jun didn't work
Real question though, what does "non-traditional ABO dynamics" mean as a tag?
Like, I only know ABO from context of fics, and the ones with that tag don't seem that different from ABO fics without the non-traditional tag? What are traditional ABO dynamics in comparison?
Hi everyone! Not sure how many of my handful of followers are from AO3, but I wanted to give an update - I promise I haven't abandoned any fics or my anti-Batman crusade!
It turns out when I am so miserable at my job, it saps any energy for creative hobbies. It's not even physically tiring, I just end the day so mentally exhausted and disillusioned that I spend all my free time just reading fic or watching other people play video games.
But don't worry - I am summoning the energy for job searching and also seriously considering whether I'd just be happier unemployed.
Hopefully I will have enough spite to spare for Bruce Wayne once it isn't all being taken up by hating management.
On an unrelated note
Batman #409
if this comic was published in July 1987, do we interpret "last February" as Catherine died 5 months ago, or a year and 5 months?
When did Catherine Todd die?
February 1987
February 1986
someone helpfully pointed out that Bruce says "died in the last six months" in literally the previous panel, so now I feel a bit silly 🙃

Vague ideas I'll never get around to writing
So Jason Todd's (non-circus) origin story includes Catherine dying of an overdose:
I'm actually kind of disappointed with myself for using "Doomed to Repeat" as a title for a fluffy Jason & Tim fic, when it would work so well for a bitter fic about Batman making the same mistakes over and over (like every time he abuses his kids, or every time he kills a mook, or...)
I don't appreciate my brain fixating on a random new fandom. I have important anti-batman propaganda to write, brain, this is no time for obsessing over unrelated characters
Tim's flawed view of parenting
Remember how in Tim's first appearance he told Dick he ought to pay Bruce back for raising him?
(The New Titans #60, 1989)
While the actual explanation is that DC chronically attracts writers with a hard on for bad parenting, I'm divided on how to interpret this in-universe.
Does this speak more to the Drakes, that they made Tim think parents are owed something just for doing the minimum for their kids? Is this indicative of Tim's unhealthy obsession with Batman, that he has Bruce on a pedestal?
y'all I am struggling here. I've been working on a fic, but at this point I don't know how to end it without it being a downer. I don't have the energy to make Bruce suffer, so I think it'll just be a couple of the batkids realizing "yep, Batman's abusive. Nope, nothing we can do about it."
Is that something anyone wants to read, or should I wait for this funk (ie seasonal depression) to pass?

As much as I love him as Red Hood, what if Jason made his big comeback as just... a better Batman? It could be like Battle for the Cowl except good.
He could make his name killing the worst of the named villains (Joker, maybe Professor Pyg if we ignore continuity) then become the Batman with less collateral damage (look he isn't shown being any less violent than Bruce, because DC writers believe might makes right when it comes to beating petty criminals to death, but I refuse to believe Jason "stealing tires from Batman to survive" Todd would not have more sympathy for thieves). Imagine a Batman who takes down violent criminals like rapists and killers but just stops the thieves and muggers like "bruh, don't rob these guys, I know someone with so much hereditary privilege and antique silver."
And then now that they have an option besides corrupt cops and corrupt bats, the people of Gotham might think "hmm, maybe minor crimes aren't an excuse for authority figures to break our bones and throw knives willy nilly."
What did Jason Todd miss while dead?
If Jason died in 1988 and was dead/catatonic/training as an assassin for 3 years, he might have missed such cultural touchstones as:
the sequels to Terminator and Back to the Future (1991 and 1989)
Disney's Little Mermaid (1989)
the very first nintendo gameboy (while this one was before my time, my sister had the color and I had the advance, you young'uns are spoiled with your backlit displays)
If he came back in 2005 and missed the 3-ish years before, he might have missed:
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) (was this the source or a symptom of the pirate craze?)
The fast and furious sequel(s)
Rosie O'Donnell comes out
The Osbournes reality TV
low rise jeans, according to Buzzfeed (look I lived through the early 00s, I'm biased)
If he came back recently (not my jam but look, we gotta resolve the fanfic timelines somehow) he would have missed....covid.
