So, I’m 2.5 seasons into Slow Horses in one weekend. My sole concern…can someone please give this River guy a hug? He seems like he’s having the worst day of his life every single day. A real person might have changed the course of their coworkers’ lives forever by now. I worry about him. Someone give him a hug and possibly a new job.
I’d like to amend this…my two concerns are can someone give River a hug, and can someone punch this Spider guy in the face?? I hate him. I’ve never wanted to punch someone more and I’ve been doing karate competitively for seven years.
…oh. Well then…

“I’m definitely most like Remus” —me, wearing my red Converse, fiddling with my constantly messy short hair, as my glasses fall off so I can’t see anything with my terrible vision

Ted Lasso ending the same week I finish high school just makes sense dramaturgically
Me: Hey, look, a show about politics! Not my usual found family vice!
Jed Bartlet: What was Josh Lyman? A warning shot? That was my son!
Me: …well shit
I think the key difference between the It movies and the book is that if you really wanted to, you could make a decent argument that the movies are not actually horror and the clown is a metaphor. It’s just traumatized kids leaning on each other to face their fears, and then growing up and realizing they have to face their past.
In the book, there’s a fucking scary clown.
If the day ever comes that I don’t get full body chills at the end of IT Chapter 2, you know there’s something wrong with me. “Be true. Be proud. Stand. Believe.” in the young Losers’ voices will never not get me. That shit hurts.

WAIT A MINUTE, THIS IS WHY I LOVED IT (2017) SO MUCH, ISN’T IT???

I’m procrastinating on writing my speech by reading a book…in which the author is describing his experience with high school speech and debate. If that’s not irony, I don’t know what is.
Ya know, maybe it’s silly, but I take a lot of comfort in the fact that Ted Lasso has panic attacks too. Like, I know he’s fictional, but I have laid on my bedroom floor, hyperventilating, thinking I’m dying, and have moments later found solace in the fact that he has those too, and he’s still someone who I admire. So. There’s one more reason why I love that goddamned show.
Y’all ever had your youth pastor says something to you during band rehearsal that sounds like it should have come from Ted Lasso himself, so you immediately write it down to use in a fic later? No? …yeah, no, me neither.
At some point, Ted Lasso has started training or a meeting by saying “let’s get down to business”, and the entirety of AFC Richmond responded by yelling “to defeat…THE HUNS”. You can’t tell me that hasn’t happened. It probably ended with a complete sing-along.
Found family really said “Imma let these jaded adults take sad kids under their broken wings and maybe everyone will be better off with a little love and support in their lives.” And I personally find that very hopeful

There’s this quote I have on my wall that goes something like “I cannot do all the good the world needs, but the world needs all the good I can do” and I think that summarizes Ted Lasso pretty well. His kindness and optimism isn’t gonna make the world stop being harsh and unfair, but because the world is harsh and unfair, the people in it desperately needs his kindness and optimism. He can’t single-handedly rid the world of its darkness, but he can make the lives of everyone at Richmond just a bit brighter.
That’s why all that “Ted Lasso Can’t Save Us” stuff is BS to me. Of course a silly little TV show isn’t going to get rid of all divides between humans, cure depression, bolster the economy, and save the environment or whatever. But for forty minutes, people get to laugh and smile together and believe that they might be okay. So hell yeah, I believe in the power of Ted Lasso.
Ya know, lots of cool famous people are queer like me. And lots of famous people struggle with anxiety like me. But only one celebrity has the same exact messed-up knee thing as me. This is a shout-out to Dylan O’Brien because you know what—cool people have Osgood Schlatter’s in their right knee. Yes, the fact that I know this means that I have watched far too many Maze Runner cast interviews. That is all.
