Some recent inktober drawings. Mainly Quink and acrylic inks. 

Glasgow School of Art Graduate Degree Show. Some really interesting works, some, not really. Tontin Building was one of the worst places to exhibit all the fine art pieces to be honest, the smell of super heavy oil paint mixed with dampness made my throat sore and made me want to run away as soon as possible. I don’t know if the work was located there because of the recent fire, but the second location, The Garment Factory, was much more pleasing. I have to say Glasgow is not on my ‘favourite cities’ list, nevertheless, it was interesting to visit it and see all the works.

Yesterday I went to Dundee for the DJCAD open day. Dundee seems like a really lovely city, and soooo quiet compared to Edinburgh. I got quite a few sketches throughout the day and overall had a nice day. Now just need to make the big decision- Illustration or Fine Arts? In Dundee or in Edinburgh?

Recently I went to the botanic gardens. At first i wanted to do some life drawing, but after all I concentrated on plants. I kept the sketches very loose and quite abstract. I have to say I really like the outcome and want to continue with this style.

Yesterday I went to the opening of Edinburgh MacMillan Art Show. To be honest, I didn’t expect much, but once I entered the room and saw my piece right in the middle I was so happy to see it. Even better, I saw that little red dot next to my details, which means my painting was sold!!! I couldn’t believe it, especially that the exhibition has just opened. Later, one of the ladies told me my piece was among the first ones to sell (there were around 200 works in the exhibition) and it was bought by an ex-curator of the show. Wow! It was an incredible evening and now I’m even more motivated to keep painting and drawing. Today I came back to Bonhams (where the exhibition is taking place) to take the photos and leave a little thank you note to the buyer. Now I’m just waiting for the official photos from the evening too be released!

When you’re waiting for a friend who never arrived... But still, got some good sketches. That fluorescent yellow pencil is definitely my favourite one now. 

There’s another degree show at the beginning of September by the Glasgow School of Art so that’s the next stop. Oh, and next Monday there is open day at DJCaD

If you plan on buying oil paints then go to Hobbycraft in Fort Kinnaird. The small student grade oil paints are £1.80 each so it’s quite a nice price.
