Violet’s reaction to seeing Cheslock again made me wonder a bit. 

We know that Violet has reservations about Bravat and the cult, his behaviour and expressions to both Ciel and Bravat regarding the cult’s activities in prior chapters show us this.

However, why, when Violet is aware of and disturbed by the shady goings-on, did he invite Cheslock to the music hall and expose him to them? Why knowingly put his former fag in danger? A danger that could potentially even kill him?

Greenhill, from his behaviour, seems to see no ill in the whole business, and so his intentions for inviting Edward seem to be genuinely to share the happiness he had found in the hall with Edward. Greenhill didn’t push Edward to get his fortune told, so he clearly wasn’t concerned with forcing Edward into the cult, only to rekindle their previous brotherly bond, as Greenhill stated earlier in Chap. 109.

Cheslock, however, is different. We never see Violet invite him, or hear what it was that convinced Cheslock to come to such an occasion, and to see four people who he has every reason to be angry at and even hate. 

Cheslock, as we know, is a very emotive young man. He is not afraid of showing how he feels. It wouldn’t surprise me if he had grabbed Violet by the collar and punched him, as he threatened to do with Soma way back when.

I always held the theory that Violet had confided in Cheslock is suspicions about the cult and Bravat, and may even have told him about the shady shit going on there. That would explain, perhaps, in part, why Cheslock bothered to attend (twice) but steered clear from Bravat. I also wondered whether Violet wanted Cheslock to fulfill a purpose.

But suddenly, as Cheslock reveals himself on stage along with the other F5, Violet looks as staggered as the others. 

What was Violet seeking to gain by inviting Cheslock to the music hall and, from what we saw, never speak to him? What made Violet reach out to him, and what made Cheslock accept it? 

If, as this expression suggests, Cheslock had no alterior motive for being at the music hall - perhaps as a way for Violet to indirectly sabotage Bravat (as the F5 are doing now) - then what was it? What exactly was he expecting?
