Kat The Mermaid

It all started when you had woken up earlier than Daryl, his large and scarred arms tucked around your body as you blinked sleep from your eyes, your vision focusing on the small windows that portrayed a white outside. You could tell that it was early in the morning, but also, the first snow of the month. Your body buzzed with childish excitement, slowly peeling yourself from his warm embrace. You would ask Daryl to go out there with you if you didn't want him to catch up on some rest.

You slipped out of the house, layered up as you smiled at the snow flakes that fell, even one of them landing on your nose as you basked in the coldness. Sometimes, the weather was too hot, the feeling of being cooked alive all too familiar.

You watched as a few Alexandrian children played in the white substance, some throwing snowballs at each other, to making snow angels and men. It was a peaceful sight really, one that you never thought you'd be able to experience ever again. It reminded you of your nieces and nephews, how you and your siblings would make Christmas special for them as you moved around the elf and pretended that Santa came and left them all sorts of neat gifts. You wished you could do that with Judith and RJ, but Judith was a little too smart for her age, and RJ is none the wiser, so you wouldn't have to worry about him.

"Whaddya doin'?" You heard Daryl grumble from behind you. He looked so soft, standing in nothing but a black shirt and plaid pajama pants. You had to practically wrench his jeans from him that he would often find himself sleeping in, much to your discomfort, and all it took was saying that you don't think you could cuddle with him if the material kept continually scratching at your skin.

"D, don't you see the snow?" You asked. "It's hard not ta." He remarked back. You just snorted, walking back up to the porch so that you could pull him into your arms. "Don't be mean." You falsely scolded, your arms wrapping around his neck as his fell around your waist. "I guess it is kinda nice." He all but admitted. You smiled, tugging him down so that your lips locked together.

"Yeah, it is."
