i always LOOOVE how you draw spinner, what’s been your favorite spinner drawing you’ve made by far? sketches or other, any thing works.
and then one more question, since your design for spinner is so uniquely yours, where did you get your ideas from for all of the extra traits and stuff you gave him?
HELLOOOO AND THANK YOUUUUU. It took me a second to think on this one, honestly out of everything I've made I think the silly doodle version of Spin is my favorite, which I like to call Spinbo, haha. As for traits, honestly part of it is likely due to a level, I realte a LOT to his struggles, like his part in the villain arc when he talked about his experience... safe to say I felt called out 😅. So I did what any artist does and gave him some of my interests that I thought would work for him too, like realllly liking cars (going to show even today!) and being kinda of the mom friend. As for physical traits, I always felt for how strong he is in the show, he always seemed a bit skinny for someone who could easily swing 200+ lbs/ 100+ kilos around, so I added some more weight to really show that. And I know a lotta people will say he's not a gecko, no he is or it's just horikoshi didn't refrence anything specific when drawing him. I know some will say monitor or kemodo, but he doesn't have the claws for that, snouts are longer and more narrow, any noticeable numb of where he lost his tail, as not nearly willing to lose tails, and he has no bacteria filled bite. I gave him his traits by refrenceing the new caladonian geckos in general, which are crested geckos, chahuoa geckos, and leachie geckos. These geckos are much more willing to lose their tails, as nothing is stored in them and only used as a decoy, got a shorter and stubbier snout like Spin's, can always stick to walls, and come in a BUNCH of morphs, some in completely green, my favorite btw is a tri color harlyquin crestie morph. But that's just what I think he is, this wouldn't be the first time a character what said to look like something their real counterparts have no correlation to, like Kaiman from dorohedoro looking nothing like a caiman, and is honestly just the bigger, scarier, and deadlier version of Spinner lol.
