BREATHE ⚡️workshop: 26.01.19, 2-4pm @yogamilasurrey ⚡️ Breathing is the link between body and mind in yoga practice. It is a voluntary doorway to the involuntary body, a conscious doorway to the subconscious mind. This workshop will work on breath development - primarily through yoga postures. The breath is a highly effective tool - much faster than postures alone. Breath-centric asana has a deep physiological value along with preparing the body and breath for pranayama. The focus will be on using breath and movement to release tension and re-instate harmony within. This combination of movement, breath and inner focus settles, re-connects and revitalizes the system as a whole. The most effective way to work with the Parasympathetic Nervous System (rest and digest) is by working on the exhale and by adding pauses, sound and mantra the effect is strengthened. We will look at different breathing tools including breath expansion and pranayama. As the breath gets longer the mind becomes quieter…. The workshop is open to all abilities and is ideal for practitioners looking to progress from just asana or people wanting to understand the breath. Kate Leonard is a Yoga Therapist and Advanced Yoga Teacher. She teaches the many tools of Yoga to aide students in their own personal progression, bringing freedom and true potential. This tradition of Yoga has a very strong Parampara: there is a continuous link from bottom to top, a succession of teachers. Two of my Teachers Teacher was TKV Desikachar and my Mentors Teacher was a Student of Desikachar. There is always a strong link to the original source... a continuous and living reference.
