To the anon who has been bothering some blogs I swear I will hunt you down and make sure you get a good ass whoppin. 

if you take the time to comment on a fanfiction but your comment is some variation of “this story would’ve been better if ______” then perhaps, in this one case, it is better to Not Comment At All

like, I am a disillusioned, emotionless fandom native at this point, so your comment will be met with mild annoyance and some form of dumbfounded laughter as I share it with my friends and baffle over the fact that you took the time to say, “this is cute but i would’ve liked it better if you had written a completely different story than this one”

but some people who write and post fic have not been in fandom as long as I have and therefore they have not built up an immunity to This Shit, so perhaps take their feelings in mind and wonder how it will affect them emotionally and mentally for you to essentially say the story they wrote wasn’t good enough

“This story would’ve been better if you’d explored that plot point you created in more detail.  It was really interesting. Are you going to do that in another story?”

“This story would’ve been better if you’d given more time to the OC you created, you did a good job with them. They are really relatable.”

“I’d love to hear more about ____! It sounds great / interesting / [whatever word you like].”

“I could read a whole fic just about _____!”

It gets across your point without making the author feel as though they have failed miserably.

Here’s the difference, right. Saying “I loved this part, I want to read more about it” encourages the author to create more.

Phrasing it as you did – “this story would be better if” – is inherently critical and makes it seem as though you think the fanfiction was a failed experiment and perhaps if they had done this differently, it would have been marginally better.

Your phrasing is discouraging, whereas the alternative phrasing is encouraging and gives the impression that you would like to read more by this author.

If you want something written a certain way so bad, feel free to do it yourself. Otherwise, just be glad they shared what they did do. Ao3 is a platform for sharing creative content, not a writing workshop.

Oh man, that little bit you did over here on Y, I could read that for days. 

I know Character A was only a minor character, but they were so fleshed out. Would you ever do more stuff focusing on them? 

Your world looks so solid even though we only see a little of it. Can I ask you some questions about your worldbuilding?

Can you write headcanons about how Toshinori would comfort someone with Misophonia? (You should look it up so you can read the definition lol it’s hard to explain) - bnha-hcs-blog requested.

I did some research on this condition and I suggest you guys do too if you have the time. It’s pretty new and rare for someone to have it. Also, this request was deleted because of Tumblr, so I asked the requester to resend it back to me. If you guys don’t know, this was requested by bnha-hcs-blog. I hope I did this request justice, my friend. ^^ I hope you don’t mind that I used F!Reader for this one. I usually use the term ‘she/her’ for my fics/headcanons unless otherwise stated. ^^ (Also, sorry for not posting for a while. With Tumblr being as it is, I was afraid to post anything. We’ll see how this one works out.)

Toshinori Yagi – All Might Headcanons

Depending on how far the relationship is, Toshinori might have found out early on that his beloved Reader has this condition. It was one of those instances where he didn’t expect it, but it didn’t dissuade him to give up. The situation made him become more conscious of what he’s doing while he’s yawning, especially when he’s around his Reader, but he didn’t mind one bit. He’s willing to go the extra mile for her and make sure she’s comfortable around him for as long as possible.

It was one evening, a rare one, where Reader and Toshinori are relaxing in her living room. Reader cuddling up to Toshinori while he rubs her shoulder. It’s quiet with the exception of the pouring rain outside. There’s nothing on in the room. The two of them are just enjoying each other’s company. Toshinori felt Reader bobbing her head, eyes somewhat glazed over as she tries to stay awake. He only peeks down at her with a soft smile on his face, having the urge to kiss her head and tell her it’s okay to sleep on him. However, before he does so, he opens his mouth and releases a yawn, his eyes becoming watery.

All of a sudden, Toshinori feels a hard push against his side (not his injured one). With wide eyes, he flails his arms around to grab something on the couch. Grabbing the top of the couch, he swirls his attention to Reader and almost freezes. Her body’s trembling as she’s glaring straight at him, hands clenching tightly to the point where they’re almost white. Toshinori mentally panics as he can only stay where he is. Before he can say anything, Reader’s eyes widen a moment before she hurriedly stands and rushes out of the room. Toshinori can only watch her go as she disappears from the room. He remains where he is before he lets go of the couch and plops onto the couch, staring straight at the ceiling.

Toshinori didn’t remain down for long, though. He gets up and makes his way to where Reader escaped to. He peeks around the corner to see that Reader is doing her best to calm herself down; either with words or deep breathing techniques. Toshinori remains where he is and speaks softly to her to ask if she’s okay. He notices her stiffen, but she didn’t turn around and only shakes her head, still trembling. Toshinori cautiously approaches her and places a hand on her shoulder.

“My love, what’s wrong…?”

Reader didn’t reply right away. She’s clenching her jaw and keeps her mouth shut as she does everything to avoid eye contact with him. Toshinori rubs his thumb on her shoulder before he gently wraps his arms around her and rests his chin on her head. Toshinori didn’t push anymore, opting to wait for her to respond back to him and have her relax to whatever troubled her. It took time for her to calm down and gently run her fingers on his arms. Noticing she’s not trembling anymore, Toshinori gently asks her what’s wrong again and that’s when she shakily explains she has Misophonia.

Toshinori didn’t interrupt her as she explains what caused her to feel suddenly enraged. It was because of his yawn that triggered the response. Due to hearing it, the sound made her push him away and she did everything that she could to restrain herself from not hurting him. That’s why she had to leave the room or else she would have gone through with it. She’s been experiencing this since she was young. Reader admits she’s gotten a little better over time, but unfortunately, she’ll have this for the rest of her life. After her explanation, Reader apologizes for pushing him away and turns to return the hug. Toshinori only tightens the hug and kisses the top of her head again.

He promises that he’ll work on not yawning around her and make sure that she remains comfortable around him. Toshinori also asks if there’s anything that he can do to if someone else yawns in their presence. After having this conversation, Toshinori mentally writes a note to himself to look more into this so he can help her as best as he can.

Once he thoroughly researches the topic (as best as he could due to it being fairly new), Toshinori will be ready whenever Reader has an episode. He’ll remain calm and softly speak to her, saying it’s not her fault and that he’s there for her when she’s ready to be around him or others again. When she’s calmed down, Toshinori will hug her and give her a lot of kisses, which sometimes makes her giggle and he’ll only smile warmly down at her. If she was crying, he’ll wipe her tears away and kiss her eyelids, speaking sweet words to her to lift her spirit up. Toshinori is and always will remain by her side, as long as she will have him.

DO NOT:

Yell at them for three hours

Take away their devices and look through them

Make them sit in their rooms in silent and do their homework alone

Side with the teacher and not get your child’s side of the story

Tell them that their grades are the most important thing they should worry about

INSTEAD:

Ask if they’re having trouble with other students or teachers

Sit down with them and help them with what they don’t understand

Speak calmly instead of yelling

Don’t invade their privacy by looking through their devices

Don’t take away their hobbies as punishment

Never make them feel unsafe or unable to trust you
