karl from castle of nations/law of talos (biggest character in my life until mettaton) drawn next to the most beautiful star in the world. karl's character sheet got posted on the 31st of july for me so :'] happy birthday u changed my life

ayayayayaa. one day ill write the gosh darn thing. for context here's my talos/rachel from 2024 i like making arma look SLIGHTLY reminiscent of rachel with the red theming + the ribbon but theyre very different. but like yk. she haunts the narrative

think i've already talked about this before, but their motives during both of their respective tournaments reflect each other funnily enough. climber goes through the tournament trying to escape the asylum in hopes of finding clarice. karl on the other hand goes through the tournament in order to claim an energy source that's independent of castle. HOWEVER!!! he spends a lottt of the tournament facing his feelings about rachel, whether he likes that or not.

the thing i find interesting about this is that karl never encounters the real rachel; every single time we see her is either a flashback or the law of talos taking the shape of rachel. in endzone we actually get to see climber finding clarice in the final entries.

like. come on. i'm still not over this.

it also seems more like karl spends his time running away from this version of rachel?? if that makes sense?? it's clear he doesn't like her very much. that could be from talos being rachel in general or him just not liking that she's copying his ex--or maybe both! i wouldn't be a fan of either in his situation. i will say that during round 5 it looks like he kind of just accepts that he has to rely on her despite not wanting to depend on another energy source.

another thing with climber is that. right as he frees clarice in the finale. he basically dies. he dies and clarice has to carry him back to where dood and the others were. of course climber got brought back to life after, but i think we can consider him being completely burnt as him dying at the end of the tournament...especially since he was brought back off screen...

maybe i'm looking into it too much but the main point is that clarice lived and climber didn't (at least for a bit)

anyways. in unknown's entry for round 5, karl has to watch talos die and leave him behind like the real rachel did. so in a way the roles are swapped: karl has to see a version of his human lover die, while clarice had to watch her nonhuman lover die. in karl's case he doesn't seem so lucky since in both endings for LoT he like ACTUALLY dies, so unfortunately he didn't get the revive treatment like climber did.

i think about these things a lot. A normal amount. I like it. i like "made it harder to play the violin" as the reason written here as if it's something he did to himself.I love you karl. he doesnt like looking at the scar thats in place of the eyepatch that made it hard for him to play violin. starts shaking.
