have u seen that rachel blog?? violinist rachel i think?? there was like a drawing of her tired bc of her responsibilities and tasks and obligations and I REALLY LOVE THAT HC OF HER.
YESSS i found that blog a bit ago and it felt like stumbling on a gold mine. love love LOVE that blog and their interpretation of karl and rachel together…honestly they’re part of the reason why i headcanon rachel being stressed out and tired in her regular life outside of the park 🥹
the idea of rachel being such a perfectionist is really interesting to me. something i like to think about is rachel taking her time to teach karl violin because it gives her the opportunity to be loose with her playing. to karl, she probably would’ve been the best violin player in the world because he had no other bar set outside of rachel. it would’ve given her the chance to play without the pressure to give a perfect performance. though karl would enjoy it all the same, i believe!
i think this is a good time to mention that i like the idea of rachel being the one to propose the idea of learning violin to karl. i feel like after they started hanging out, karl would’ve watched rachel in awe and WOULD want to learn it himself, but he doesn’t seem like the type of guy to come right out and ask something like that; he would totally avoid asking her to teach him and would act completely content with just being a listener. i think rachel would’ve noticed this and would eventually offer him lessons. karl would wave it off and say that it’s silly for a statue to do something like that…but would accept the offer after awhile of acting like he doesn’t care (he DOES)
also, HER NOT TELLING THE FULL TRUTH ABOUT WHERE SHE'S BEEN IS SO CHEF’S KISS TO ME. she was saying that hmm maybe the gunman wanted her to stop going to the park, but what karl didn't know was he never used any force on her. SHE also made the choice of temporarily leaving, but why mention that when they just got back together?
ABSOLUTELY agree with this!!! in my mind i picture karl killing the gunman because he believes that HE’S the one who’s responsible for keeping rachel away this whole time. i assume his first thoughts were that this guy was forcing rachel to stay away from the park and that this wasn’t of her own volition because WHY would his dear, sweet rachel stay away from him? after all the time they’ve spent together? that doesn’t make sense! so out of both self defense from being shot AND the belief that this person was hurting her somehow, he would kill the gunman.
i don’t think karl would completely understand just how DIRE this situation is. like you said, he wouldn’t realize just how significant a human life is. to him, he was just defending himself and, going with the theory i’ve had, defending rachel as well. i think he would understand what killing meant for humans, but i don’t think it would hit him just how HORRIFIC this would’ve been to witness from the pov of another human. that being rachel in this scenario. karl in the moment believing he just saved rachel, while rachel has to look in horror knowing that she just watched a man be killed by a statue she thought she could be friends with.
i DO really like the idea of the gunman being an overprotective relative. there’s so many different ways that “The Incident” could’ve played out, but the gunman getting suspicious and sneaking to find out where rachel had been running off to seems super plausible for both the family and the husband theory, i feel…
it’s possible that rachel had been stuck in a rut for some time and was left tired and exhausted with how life had been treating her despite being so successful and talented. after starting her nightly sessions visiting the park and meeting with karl, i can imagine her mood starting to perk up and starting to feel her passion come back. assuming he was close by, the gunman could’ve noticed her change in demeanor and ask what has her acting so different. obviously she wouldn’t have been able to tell him what she was actually getting up to, so she’d likely just dodge the question whenever it was brought up. this would make him suspicious and lead him to catching her sneaking off at night, until eventually confronting her about it.
i still like the fiance/husband theory though HEHEHE that would be the most darkest theory ever and makes her more complex for me HEEHE. i don't think it's too far off either; there's a chance bc in unknown's last law of talos flash, the professor reminded karl of the gunman, and annie of rachel. and the two are married!!!
did NOT think about the similarity with annie and ginger to rachel and the gunman. if that WAS intentional, then i think that’s kind of genius on unknown’s part…
also! i personally really like the theory of rachel being romantically involved with the gunman because like you said, it gives her another layer of complexity. that’s not to say that the theory of the gunman being a father or brother is bad or anything, not at all—i just think that it’s interesting since rachel and the gunman being in a relationship implies that rachel had a say in who she was being with.
here’s what i think: karl and rachel had been hanging out together for awhile, and both of them had feelings for each other. however, something would’ve made rachel begin to doubt how long this relationship would have been able to last. after all, karl is just stuck in this old amusement park; how could she expect a relationship like that to last very long?
perhaps around this time she began talking to another guy. a regular human guy. and she really wouldn’t have wanted to admit it, but she was starting to enjoy doing things with him that she couldn’t do with karl. so she stays with him.
i think that this would’ve made her feel guilty because she DID genuinely have feeling for karl as well. we saw the two of them kissing and we see rachel blush around him in the limits comic + unknown’s art of her. there’s no way it was one sided 🥹 because of this i imagine her trying to justify what she was doing by saying to herself that “she and karl wouldn’t have worked anyways—karl was a statue, and she was a human. this is better for both of them.” and that would have cued her leave.
now how this could lead into the gunman confronting karl, i struggle to figure out myself. atm i’ve imagine that she felt bad for just leaving without saying anything, so she tried to go back to tell him how she felt about their feelings for each other. just to give the both of them closure. but before she was able to get everything out, the gunman came, and the rest is history.
she looked too SWEET TO ME IN UNKNOWN'S LATEST DOODLES OF HER.. it really will break my heart if she did have ulterior motives wahhh. she’s my pink diamond of steven universe.. at least until unknown reveals it all.
oh dude. i don’t know how anyone can look at the art unknown made or rachel and think that she’s evil. she looked so sweet and sensitive in his drawings of her…i refuse to believe she was ACTUALLY evil until we get more info on her and karl’s story. i like the comparison you make to pink diamond because in my mind i see rachel as the type to do things to protect herself and others, but unintentionally causes harm. poor girl…💔
