Glasgow botanic gardens
Botanic Gardens 3 minute video
Story boards for my moving image
Glasgow Moving Image Research
I have decided to do the Glasgow Botanic Gardens for my moving image. I chose this because after researching different topics i felt that this would be the best topic for me as I have a passion for photographing nature and I felt I could express this more through a 3 minute video.Â
Glasgow Botanics was founded in 1817, making it 202 years old, by Thomas Hopkirk with support from local dignitaries and the University of Glasgow. It was owned and ran by The Royal Botanical Institution of Glasgow and agreed to provide University of Glasgow with teaching aids and included a supply of plants for medical and botanical classes. It was originally an 8 acre site. Glasgow Corporation took over the gardens in 1891 and agreed to maintain links with University of Glasgow.
I feel like the Botanic Gardens has a lot of history which is evident from the old abandoned railway station placed to the left of the entrance. It was opened in 1896 and closed between January 1917 and March 1919 due to wartime economy and was permanently closed in Febraury 1939. I feel this plays a big part at the botanic gardens as it plays a major role. The line is now shut off however, onlookers can view either side through fencing.Â
I decided i would make a mixture of both the railway and the buildings as well as the plants themselves to show all aspects of the gardens. Â
