okay something i think ppl are forgetting in their analysis of nubsib is that he is just 20 and even thought he obviously has previous sexual experience this is probably one of his first real relationships. and you know with that in mind I really think a lot of his behavior towards gene at the beginning - rather than bring manipulative - is stuff he legitimately thinks gene will appreciate or like (eg the seatbelt scene, 'practice kissing,' the stuffed animals) or come from a genuine place of wanting to take care of him (wiping his mouth, carrying him to bed). like he IS sly and needs to learn to be more honest and actuallg communicate (which arguably, post backstory reveal he does). but i think a lot of these things are reasonable and realistic flaws that pop up in young relationships. which is to say theyre not dealbreakers for me as a viewer.

They seriously should have made him at least 22 and even that would have been a stretch with his face, body, and mannerisms.
