crash course
âOh, goodness me, I donât doubt that youâre relatively youthful! Iâve always found that the younger students are the ones to gravitate towards sports and the like.â She gave a light laugh, having carefully adopted her dinner party mannerisms, and wondered what he considered old for his species. Surely they had a lifespan far longer than vampires..? She doubted that her own age would be impressive to him - as it was, it was hardly impressive in comparison to the many centuries accrued by her close relatives. Finding it easier to drop the train of thought and amiably agree with her large companion, Hazel nodded, âThat does seem to be the case! Itâs certainly an informal environment here - very friendly. Have you been here very long?â
How sweet! Giving him a bright smile, the vampire slid the strap from her shoulder and held it out, realising a little too late that the oni might not necessarily be⌠hygienic enough to be allowed such an offer. âHere!â It was difficult to ignore the⌠insect life apparently inhabiting his hair, but she bolstered herself and persevered, âYou can feel it if you like. My father had it made for me some years ago.â As was the case with many of her clothes, unfortunately. Unlike her siblings, she had yet to discover her own sense of fashion, and was still largely dressed in a similar manner to the familyâs assistants. It was no matter - at the very least, it seemed that Akio was pleased by it⌠although he seemed to be pleased by many things. âAh! I was only crossing the campus to the registrarâs office but Iâd be glad of the company! I do hope Iâm not keeping you from anything important, though. Were you busy?â
âYeah, I donât think anyone on the team ith over thixty-thomething⌠Kinda weird!â Such a diverse school, and everyone on the team were practically children. Akio heard similar stories from his Del Kap brothers, too. Huh. A whole athletics department full of babies. Maybe they should all start wearing pacifiers out onto the field. Heh heh. "Uh, I gueth not! Themethter jutht thtarted, right? No one'th been here long!" This girl seemed too smart to ask such a silly question. Weird.
Hazel's smile attracted his attention - Pointy teeth! Like his! He returned the grin with equal luminescence as she held the bag out. She was so nice! His blunt fingertips brushed against the leather with an unexpected delicacy, expression turning almost reverent. âWhoa⌠It is thoftâŚâ He withdrew his hand back into his own space, not wanting to mess up the lovely bag. It's rude to destroy things that are definitely someone's.
âNuh uh! Not buthy. Jutht trying to lothe thome energy.â Even an intensive workout didnât always burn off all the excess that built up in him, being extra-monster-y and all. It was something even his coach didn't seem to understand. He had to move! A lot! There was a reason he kept stealing bases when he wasn't supposed to, and that reason is staying still is hard. "Lead the way!"
