DOING is particularly hard for artists who are in the beginning stages of their creative field. As Ira Glass has explained, there is often a gap between taste and skill when starting out. We aspire to become artists because we love great music, paintings, or books. But there is often a gulf between our aspirations and our skills. Overcome by self-doubt and indecision, many beginners quit at this stage. But artists who have the nerve to push through this awkward, uncomfortable phase evolve and eventually improve. Over time, they find their own unique style, the right medium, and a routine that makes original art possible.

"Feminist therapy and feminist therapy theory have been developed by and with white women. Currently, feminist therapy theory is neither diverse nor complex in the reality it reflects. It has been deficient from the start in its inclusiveness of the lives and realities of women of colour, poor or working class women, non - North American women, women over sixty-five, or women with disabilities. Commonly cited landmark volumes in feminist therapy such as Miller (1976), Sturdivant (1980) or Greenspan (1983) appear to describe the realities of white women only, with occasional passing references to the fact that women of colour, women with disabilities, poor women, and so on may bear even heavier burdens of oppression than do their white, able-bodied and financially more secure sisters. The 'Handbook of Feminist Therapy' which arose from the first Advanced Feminist Therapy Institute acknowledges the absence of women of colour as authors or subjects of discussion, although lesbians and (more specifically) women in poverty are addressed in that volume (Rosewater and Walker, 1985). These books focus on applications of feminist therapy rather than theory. However, they accurately reflect zeitgeist in which theory is being developed."
