The master artisan begins by placing a paper pattern of a complex drawing onto a brass sheet. Then, the craftsman carefully cuts the openings into the brass following the curves of the pattern on paper. The brass is cut, sculpted and engraved with extreme finesse. Utilizing a fretsaw tool, called a “serrouj” in Morocco, enables the craftsman to achieve a high level of craftsmanship not otherwise found in standard Moroccan productions.
