“Hm?” his eyes graced the child’s wide inquisitive ones, a delicate brow raising at the innocuous question. “Not particularly -- I like my hair.”

"Hmp, my job is more time consuming." Darting his eyes to the side, he maintained his air of superiority. This banter was what he'd missed most of all; he really must make more time in the day just to talk to this guy. It was always worthwhile.

"We have it on film."

"I have a job to do, unlike some people," Kaito said bluntly. He would be the last to admit so, but it was nice to see Era popping up again. Despite willingly shutting himself up in his personal lab, he really did miss the guy.

"Obots pick up on a lot of things, including petty theft."

I see why so many people like you! *u* It’s kinda odd though, tbh. I’ve gotten messages where people will say something like “Do you know Shep? Omg, he’s the absolute best!!!” and??? Yes, you’re great, but the way people idolise you seems to write you off as a sort of god, and, in reality, you’re just a super chill guy with a big heart. However, there is no sense in stressing over this subject endlessly.

"He is still a child. Perhaps I don't know what's best, but I do know that he cares for people so easily and is generally a kind boy. I may not make an upstanding father, but I certainly haven't failed him yet. Give him time to age, then worry if he remains selfish. I appreciate what I assume to be concern, but I doubt your fears are much founded. As for the nightmares, I shall handle it."

"Perhaps I wasn't listening too well to you. Muscle memory dictates I ignore your constant grumbling. However, I suppose I can do you this, if only because food is a necessity and your continued life is slightly appreciated at best."

Despite his quiet fit of laughter, Haruto was imagining himself as professionally stealthy. Just look at how Kaito’s gaze wandered, viewing everything except—Slip! Apparently, Haruto had allowed too much of his sheet to drag. While shuffling forward, he began to step on more linen than terra and, within moments, fell to his stomach with an audible thud and cry of surprise. 

"Nii-san.." Whimpered the youth, swaddled within what use to be his disguise. "I don’t  think I’m good at sneaking like you yet."

Don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh... A crack of a grin couldn't help but rise to his face as he squat down next to the bundle of the small child. "Practice makes perfect, Haruto. You did rather well, I'd say."

"What on earth are you speaking of?" demanded the ex-hunter, scowl twisting into something a bit more sinister.
