for example: a lot of kpop fandoms set streaming goals for upcoming releases (ex: 1million streams on a song in the first week), they promote new/upcoming music a lot, stuff like that. I’ve also noticed that if you are in the right place they are nice to newer fans too!! I’ve met a few coers and some of them even sent me performances to check out 🥹🥹 they very much encourage people to start stanning their favorites!

HOWEVER, a lot of western pop fans are pretty much the opposite. They gatekeep a LOT, they want their artist to stay niche so they feel special. If that artist gets a lot of new fans from a song blowing up online, you’ll see fans being like “i was here before ____ blew up” or even denouncing the artist because they got “too big.” A lot of people avoild listening to big artists as well because of this! (I used to be this type of person i cant lie)
