Is it bad that I genuinely do believe my source was real, just probably in a parallel universe, or something similar? I don't think it was just fiction, I really think my home is out there somewhere...

Everyone I know just calls me "delusional" and pities me for thinking such a thing. But considering the things I've seen happen back home it wouldn't be too far fetched that it could be a parallel universe... I still pray that maybe one day I'll be able to go back home.

Interacting with nonkin people in fandom is awkward sometimes. Like I’ll be having a nice conversation and then suddenly they start talking badly about my dead brother and I have to grit my teeth because I can’t just say “Hey that’s my brother you’re talking about,” because they’d probably think I’m delusional. Or they start talking about me and I have to figure out how to steer the conversation away from certain things that make me feel uncomfortable because they’re talking about me to my face. Not that they know. But talking to other fictionfolk is also awkward sometimes. It’s like I can’t win in any situation.

Open question because... I'm really, really confused right now.

Can you be a c'linker but like... but not completely voluntarily? Kind of like you can and very much will have link kintypes (and KNOW they're linked types) but you don't know when it'll happen, and it's in response to stress? (Different from splitting or a new alter. Or even a non link kin. I can differentiate between those. They all feel different.)

I'm just really confused because I KNOW that the new 'type I just discovered ISN'T a fictive and ISN'T a non-link kin... but I didn't like... I dunno, INTENTIONALLY try to link? Does this make sense?

Can anyone help me understand this?

#I use the term copinglink when it’s voluntary and copingkin if it forms involuntarily as a coping mechanism!#not everyone uses it that way though #from what I understand a lot of people would call them all copinglink #which is completely fine #even though it’s not what I do #to me it makes sense to call it a kin because you can’t control your kintypes #and copinglinking feels more intention to ME

Can a copinglink be involuntary?

I have what fits the definition of a link, a character I feel very much parallel to in terms of identity who I identify as to deal with stress and hard situations, but it doesn't feel like I'm actively choosing to identify as this character.

Is copinglink the correct term, or is there a better term for my situation? I can try to elaborate if this isn't enough information.
