I’ve always believed in magic. Not in that of fairies, or the card tricks of the casual birthday party entertainer, but in that of experiences. I find sensation in losing track of time on an artistic project - painting, writing, singing, and dancing. I find wonder in learning new things and maturing - in cleaning my shoes for the first time in my residence laundry room, or teaching myself that I don’t really need to buy that box of cookies. In people, I find warmth. Hearing someone use my name for the first time, ignoring cold nights when joking around with friends, and watching the way words roll quickly down lips when someone excitedly expresses their love for something, all defy emotional gravity. I care more for the feeling of the moment than the moment itself; the warm shiver in the pit of your stomach that, even if you don’t remember all of the details of the night, you know you’ll always have. That indescribably beautiful feeling, is the real magic. It comes from people connecting, as true as they come. It’s being myself, and not worrying about what’s to come, or who’s looking to judge. I can be impetuous, I can be loud, I can be... Me. Kaeli-Ann Samantha Renée Hendricks; a zany girl who likes to make jokes at every turn she makes, won’t touch Pringles with a ten-foot pole, and daydreams so much that the world is her own personal theme park. It’s moments like that, that I can believe in the concept of being completely, and perfectly happy. It’s moments like that, that make me know magic exists.
