No offense but Dotachin? Were all the good nicknames taken?
âFirst of all, this websiteâs broken. I never got your notification. Sorry âbout the delay.â
âSecond of all, dâyou think I chose that nickname? I didnât. Talk to Izaya.â
sentence starters! ( accepting! )
anonâ read: ( @kad0taâ, for Anri-chan) âNobodyâs seen you in days.â And around Ikebukuro, that was saying something.
It was surprising that anyone even noticed that she wasnât really out and about. It did make her feel bad but she needed to not see anyone. Nothing more, nothing less. She fidgeted with her hands for a moment before answering him.
ââŚI just needed a moment to myself.â That actually equated to her being like a NEET for a few days. âDid anything happen while I was not around?âÂ
âWell, Erika got on a hot tear about the cosplay club, and said something about having found this perfect outfit for you out of Dance Maiden Minako,â he explained. âI havenât read that one, so Iâve got no idea what sheâs been rambling about, but she insisted I go look for you since sheâd drawn a blank. âGiven that I hadnât seen you in a while either, I figured it wouldnât hurt to drop by and say hello.â And make sure she was doing all right. Not that Anri couldnât take care of herself, but ... that was what friends did.
âDota-chin!â // @kad0taâÂ
He shouldâve guessed.
âDonât call me that.Â
... Whereâve you been? Even Walker said he hadnât seen you. He was threatening to go on some sort of ninja-bokuden training journey to seek your mystical presence, or something like that.â And he himself had been starting to wonder if he needed to tear up half of Ikebukuro.
âThis is the part where Iâm supposed to tell you that revenge is never the answer and nothing good ever comes from violence, but I donât think much good comes from allowing people to control you, either.â

[kad0ta, to Izaya] "It's not often you're down in our part of the city." Not an accusation, more of an observation, calm but cautious.
âCanât a man go shopping in Ikeburkuro? Maybe stop for some sushi along the way?â If only those were his plans. But Kadota wasnât a wise one to leak information to. He was still a âhigher upâ in the Dollars and likes poking his nose into trouble at times.
A man could certainly do those things. That said, Izaya was carrying neither shopping bags nor takeout, and Russia Sushi was just around the corner.
And Kadota wasnât Izayaâs mom. Small favors. But it never hurt to have a handle on the current situation; things could go from zero to sixty in no time flat in this part of the city.
âI donât think Iâve ever seen you go shopping. Not even for groceries. What are you buying?â

@kad0ta || o-oh!
She wasnât too surprised that he would help her; he seemed like the type to do so. Her attention was fully on him when she realized he didnât know exactly where she lived. Then again, she really didnât disclose that at all. âI donât live that far from where you usually take me and Mikado.â Sheâd have specifics when she knew where she was. âThank you.â
âAny time.â Kadota gave Anri a small smile, then peered up to check the nearest street sign. Â
âGreen Odoriâs about ten blocks that way,â he calculated. That would put them near the metro station, not too far from where they usually ran into each other. âShouldnât be too hard to get you home from there. If you donât mind my asking, though, did you have something you still needed to do out here?â

cautionstop:
Shizuo looked at his screen but saw no reply from Celty yet. Might be driving. Celty followed the law and didnât text and drive, even though Shooter could steer himself. âDunno. Depends on when Celty can join me.â Early mornings were fine for Shizuo work-wise. Tom didnât need to chance after dead-beats at six a.m.Â
âGuess if Celty isnât free the two of us can do it.â Was looking forward to matching his speed against Shooter. Oh well. âWhenever works for you is fine with me.â
âIâll be headed down this route for probably the next week or so, about six-thirty. The jobâs back there.â Kadota jerked a thumb over his shoulder. The metro station had receded in the distance, but they both knew where he meant.
He hadnât intended it to be a pressuring offer, just an alternate in case things didnât work out. âIf I see you, I see you. If not, maybe Iâll catch you âround some other time. Tell Celty hi for me if you see her. Itâs been a while since I have.â
[kad0ta] "Anri-chan?" This was about the last place Kadota would expect to find her, in a rough part of town and fairly late at night. Not that she couldn't take care of herself; he knew that, but still ... "Where're you headed?"
She was surprised to see the older male in front of her and when he asked her where she was going, Anri couldnât honestly answer. She wanted to be lost in her own thoughts but it somehow made her physically lost. âHome.â It was said in an unsure voice though at this point thatâs where she wanted to be. âMay you help me?â This was embarrassing.
Anri didnât sound entirely confident to Kadotaâs ears, but he guessed that she probably hadnât been expecting to run into him, either.Â
âSure, of course.â There was no hesitation in his answer. He wouldnât have wanted to leave her alone here anyway, although a moment later, he added, âCome to think of it, though, I donât know where you live.â Saburo had always dropped Anri and Mikado off together.
cautionstop:
Shizuo gave Kadota a confused look. The hell kind of manga was that?! Ugh, this was why he hung out with those two less. He couldnât keep up with them and their excitement crossed into annoying. Last thing he wanted was to blow a fuse on them and hurt either of them.
He down the rest of his milk.
âYeah, some would be nice.â If it did rain heâd need him umbrella. Did he leave it at work last time? Hopefully he could find it before any rain came.Â
Oh right, he was going to text Celty. He pulled his phone out and started composing the text message. âIf I does rain, I doubt I could go running.â He didnât want to slip or get sick.
Kadota sure as heck didnât know what kind of manga it was either, nor did he want to. Those twoâs tastes ran way more ... eclectic ... than his.
âEh, maybe so. When were you planning to go, anyway? Maybe Iâll catch you for part of it.â A morning jog might be just the thing to get him warmed up for the workday, before it got too sweltering.
(( Not that I have so many threads on this blog that I really need to track them, but I went ahead and set it up anyway. Might as well be thorough. ))
Happy Birthday Kyohei~

cautionstop:
Shizuo pulled the carton from his mouth. âYou said it.â Good, Kadota wasnât pushing him to talk. He was a good man. Stuff like this was why he hung out with the guy. âThink itâll cool down soon?â How much was train fare to the beach? Oh, but the beach wasnât fun alone. Kasuka was too busy with a movie to go with him. Maybe Celty? Wait, then heâd have to invite Shinra too, or heâd get upset. Maybe a pool instead? Didnât they have a water park somewhere with fountains or whatever in the ground? He could walk through in his clothes and stay cool all day.
âIf it doesnât, I wish itâd rain. The humidityâs been enough to drive Erika and Walker to claim theyâll be turned into some sort of steam-breathing mecha-soldiers from who knows what manga theyâve been reading. Maybe itâd cool them off, at least.â He downed about half of his carton, and wiped at his mouth.
cautionstop:
This again? What did a guy have to do for a normal peaceful life? Was it too much to ask to go into a store and not have someone freak out and think he was going to murder them?!
No. Breathe. You can stop. Now take the lighter.
He plucked the blue one he wanted from the rest and set it next to his milk. How much did he owe? With the milk his total was⌠he pulled the correct amount of change from his wallet and handed it to the man. âThanks. Donât need the receipt.â He took his stuff and left, leaving Kadota to pay alone. He wanted out of there. The cigarette he had out was pushed into his pocket with the lighter and the carton of milk was popped open. He didnât like having milk after smoking, it didnât taste right.
The cashier muffled a breath of relief behind one hand after he dropped Shizuoâs money into the till. Kadota shot him a look.Â
âShizuoâs human, just like everyone else. You should treat him like any other customer.â He handed over his own money, the cashier momentarily staring at Kadota as if heâd grown a second head. The reminder seemed to process about the time the cashier was halfway through counting out his change. He bobbed an apology, although it would have been better if it had gone directly to Shizuo. Kadota collected his milk and followed his friend out the door.
âNothing like cold milk on a warm day.â He popped his own carton open.
