Sasha found refuge at the beach, mostly because she figured no one else would wander down to the shore given the blanket of snow that covered town. Her legs dangled off the edge of the boardwalk at the secret beach, her guitar held close to her lap, so she couldnât lose it to the ocean. Over the melody of her strings, she didnât hear anyone approach.

gabe was finishing closing up the shop contemplating what he should do with his free time now that thalia had been taken care of for the night. he often didnât know what to do with himself without thalia. he had decided to go for a walk around town to just get his legs moving since most of the day had been putting arrangements together which was a lot of sitting down. he had ended his walk at the saloon, deciding to treat himself to a burger and a beer. he had looked around the saloon and smiled at the people playing pool and games in the corner before turning around again and taking his phone out to text to see how thalia was doing.Â
âWho ya textinâ?â Anya chirped as she sidled up to Gabe at the bar. She noticed when walked into the saloon, but she gave him a minute to get settled before she bombarded him. She was always glad to see him though, and she happily invited herself to the seat next to him with her ever-present smile.

Jemmaâs friendly! Sheâs cool! Hip! Likable! Sheâs pretty chill gal, if she says so herself. But her patience is like the attention span of a goldfish, and Art is not making it easy for her to be the hip, cool, chill woman she so obviously is!
Her eyes narrow, mouth setting into a straight line, her hand still stretched out. Her gaze travels to his hand, then up to him, and it takes everything within her to stretch her lips into a smile once more. âYou can do it.â She insists, stretching her arm out more, head tilting expectantly, âI believe in you, buddy.â
âIâm not shaking your hand,â Art snapped, and he brushed past Jemma to keep up the mountain path. Unfortunately, she was the guide here, so he couldnât get too far ahead before he had to wait for her to catch up. His expression was sour as he stared ahead, refusing to meet Jemmaâs gaze while they walked. âCan we just walk there in peace? How far away is it?â

Itâs not the response that Lizzie had been expecting â though, of course, she hadnât been expecting much. Maybe a door slammed in her face, though there was still plenty of time left for that. She shifts nervously, hands fiddling with nothing in particular, and her eyes focused down on the ground. She canât even look at him.
â I was  âŚÂ  just thinking about the Valley, and had nowhere else I was planning on going. Iâve missed it.  â  Sheâs missed him too, but she doesnât know how well thatâll be received, all things considered.Â
âWell, weâre closed,â Art snapped immaturely. He wanted to slam the door in her face, but actually he was too immature, and what he wanted more was to keep fighting with her. âBesides, wasnât it time for you to move on? It doesnât seem very like you to come back to this place.â He would never forget what she said to him when she left. The words played back in his mind often.

âThere wasnât! I mean, thereââ They pause, sigh, run a hand down their face. ââ Look, there was⌠Itâs complicated.â They arenât going to get into the dumb intricacies of their (former) relationship with Jillian, especially with Sasha.
But then Sasha suggests that everyone thinks sheâs a homewrecker and Finleyâs brows furrow, half in confusion and half in thinly veiled irritation. âIâ Sasha, Iâm pretty sure literally no one thinks youâre a homewrecker. Theyâre all probably too busy thinking Iâm an assholeââ which isnât wrong, ââ so youâre fine.â A few seconds pass, and then: âPlus, no one even knew Jillian and I were⌠together or whatever, so that makes it kinda hard for you to be a homewrecker.â
âWell, how did I know you were together?â Sasha prodded, her hands planted firmly and angrily on her hips. âYou can keep saying that, but more people in this town read Gossip Elder than you think. And it was kind of a giveaway when Jillian dropped the mic in front of everyone.â
Sloane had been taking the cat fae and Jemma co-parented out on a walk as a break from tending to faer shop. In the recent months since setting up an online store front, business was finally picking up and fae was able to make some upgrades and start repaying some debts. To top it off, now Sloane had a cat companion in faer van on the weekends while in Pelican town.
Just as fae were reflecting on the recent change of events, the young black cat wiggled out of her harness and ran off to the person walking faer way. âNova, come back here!â fae called to faer cat, jogging after her. The cat kept trotting until she could rub against the other person. âSorry about that - she really likes to greet people and weâre still working on the harness training thing.â
Anya was out for a run because she was sporty like that. Her ponytail bobbed in the wind behind her. She could see the smoke from Sloaneâs truck flowing in the distance, and a smile crossed her face. Maybe she would stop by for a visit. As she slowed down, though, fae soon appeared in front of her, along with an adorable little cat. Anya crouched low, so she could pet her with both hands.
âArenât you a cutie pie? Yes you are,â she cooed before grinning up at Sloane. âNo worries, this is going to be the new highlight of my day.â
it had been a whirlwind of a month for zola. she had been called away for a special tour for ana indiana, something about a nostalgia reunion with her and some other stars when they were on the same tv show back in the day (they were children and wore awful clothes, but they were also best friends â just busy best friends). media sources these days were really banking on nostalgia as a selling factor nowadays. anyway, she was back in stardew valley, a place she canât exactly call home yet, but thatâs where her stuff was stored for the time being. she came crashing into the saloon, having lost control of her luggage and knocking over one of the chairs. âoh, shit⌠thatâs my bad⌠sorry!â
How did Zola knocked over the chair that Sasha was sitting in? Actually that wouldnât make any sense, but luckily their omniscient narrators were fun! Sasha tumbled to the floor with Zolaâs luggage, and not without a shrill shriek before she clunked on the wood paneling.
âWhat the hell?â she snipped, eyes sharp and narrow on Zola.Â

Lizzie made a careful tread on the path towards their farm â she has to correct herself. Itâs not really their farm, or even the farm anymore. Just Artâs farm, since she LEFT. She still feels terrible. It had torn her up inside while sheâd been gone, and though excursions far, far away had been fun, her mind kept drifting back to the Valley. And, more importantly, to the people that she left behind. And she had left a LOT of important people behind. But the most important person had gotten something worse than no goodbye at all â heâd gotten a shitty one.Â
I mean, what kind of person leaves a goodbye letter like that?
She stands on the porch, a frown deeply furrowed in face that usually wore a smile, and knocks on the door to the house until it opens, and sheâs met with Artâs face.Â
â Hi. â
Art wasnât expecting company. He didnât get out like he used to, make his rounds like he used to. It really was like Lizzie took a part of his spirit with him, and life in the valley felt tedious. Dimmer. He passed by a mirror that Lizzie had hung up by the door. He looked like the farm -- bad. He answered the door anyway.
A knot twisted in his stomach when he saw her, and his heart raced with...with? Shock? Anxiety? Anger? All of the above? Whatever it was, it wasnât good.
âWhy are you here?â
For the first time in months, Henry is baking. In fact, heâs been baking, and now almost every available surface in both his kitchen and living room, as well as several stairs, are littered with baked goods in various stages of being iced. Itâs like a switch has suddenly been flipped, and all that time he spent as a zombie has been brushed aside in favour of his usual flurry of activity. Itâs time to try again.
âWatch your step!â He calls, reaching to turn down the radio with one floury hand as he hears the front door open behind him.
Sasha knocked timidly on the door. Maybe too timidly. She could hear a flurry of activity in the cottage; the radio crooned tinny in the background. She leaned over to peak in the window, a hand resting on the handle to keep her bal-- oops. She poked her head in with a sheepish smile.
âHi, sorry, I was leaning on the handle. Um, my dad asked me to drop some things off for you? He said you would know what they were?â
Okay  âŚÂ  so this was awkward. Lizzieâs luggage bumped lazily against the rough cobblestone of Stardew Valley, and she breathes in deep when the fresh breeze hits her face. Sheâs missed the town, missed the people, but she couldnât say she was excited.
Sheâd kind of left things on a sour note. Moreso, sheâd kind of been gone for multiple months. Without so much as a goodbye. Oops  âŚ
Alex ambled down the street in his watery way, just happy to be alive. His turmoil from last year, when his omniscient force ruined his life, finally seemed behind him, and it was back to pleasant days in the valley. So of course he grinned at Lizzie when he saw her. Sure, he was surprised, but he was happy to welcome her back.
âLizzie! Is that really you?â

âSomething,â Henry replies gently, because he really does care why Artâs upset, but also because he doesnât really want to talk about how heâs doing himself. At the moment, the answer is always the same, and he doesnât have the energy to keep lying. He brushes the question aside. âIf you want to tell someone about whatever it is, Iâll listen.â
Part of Art convinced himself that he wasnât ready to talk about Lizzie yet. He didnât even know where to begin. And he really didnât know Henry very well to confess anything to him. But the other part of Art just needed to let something out. That part won. âI donât know. I donât know if you heard yet, but Lizzie left the farm, and she was kind of my partner in crime on the farm, and in life in general, so I donât really know what to do with myself now. It pretty much sucks.â
