I love the Kenna luberto ship art but I feel like ever since it came out thereโs been so much misinformation and it has been bugging me so:
1. The ship art wasnโt made by the main creator. The main creator, Enrico Casarosa, made the movie with the intent to have it be a friendship and a platonic story. He supports the ship but it wasnโt his goal. The art was made by Kenna who I believe is a co-director or story lead or smth. A higher up crew member for sure but not the main creator donโt erase Enrico
2. It is not inherently canon. Kenna introduced the post as unsanctioned (meaning not official) fanart. Their word is not inherently canon to Luca as they are not the only or primary creator. Everyone says theyโre canon now and as much as I would love that to be true I care deeply for semantics.
3. Kennaโs ship art is NOT CONCEPT ART. It was a fanart post made after the film came out, it was not an intended explicitly queer story concept that Disney censored (not that Disney doesnt do that all the time but letโs point fingers in the right places). If there were any queer plans itโs unrelated to Kennas art and it was not an openly shown romance between the boys.
I love luberto and Luca is dripping with queer allegory but we can appreciate that without rewriting the intention of the movie and erasing Enricoโs vision or authority over his own world and characters.
