She said yes! (at Griffith Observatory)
This panel from today's Justice League #41 (Geoff Johns, Jason Fabok) is just perfect.
Just messing around with my acoustic guitar, a drum pad, and a microphone. Don’t mind the flubs.
Angie was out tonight and suggested I create something; this is the result, mostly made up on the spot. I guess I should start doing this more often.
San Francisco!
My girlfriend Angie and I took a trip up to San Francisco for an extended weekend last month and I thought I would post some of the pictures on here.
We flew up on a Friday evening and stayed at The Mosser. It’s a pretty cool European Style(?) hotel right in the middle of everything. The room was pretty small and the bed was probably purchased from Ikea, but it felt cool to be staying in in downtown and the decor inside was awesome.
I had been up there a couple times before, but Angie hadn’t and really wanted to see Alcatraz. I had never thought to get tickets beforehand so I had never been either. So on Saturday we met up with some friends to go. We decided to walk down to the piers to take in the sites; it’s always great to walk through a new city, especially if LA is the one you're familiar with. San francisco has great street performers along the way too.
Alcatraz was amazing. It’s really cool as you take the ferry over to the island and see it grow larger in front of you. There was a surprising amount of walking uphill involved. But the cell house audio tour was definitely worth the climb. They walk you through the whole place with stories from former prisoners and guards. The hospital wing was open so we got to walk through there as well. Seeing old equipment and the psych ward was pretty interesting. I've never done an audio tour before, but it was a lot of fun. Looking over during the tour and seeing Angie smile at the same parts I was listening to was a great feeling. I'm really glad we both got to experience it for the first time together.
That night, we found a restaurant called Bix on yelp. It was great. I'm relieved we took a taxi to get there because the entrance is down an alley and it might have been hard to find. It was dimly lit, two stories, and completely open inside. There’s a jazz trio that played music all night and the bar took up an entire wall, complete with backlit bottles to add to the atmosphere. We sat on the second story overlooking it all. It was perfect. I don't even remember what I got to eat but I remember it being delicious.
On Sunday, we met up with Brian and Iliana again and went to our first Giants game. It was a bit cold and they got their asses handed to them, but the ballpark was awesome and Brian got us great seats.
That night, we went to The Bourbon & Branch, a speakeasy bar. The first of my friends to move up there was TJ, and I had met him there on my first trip years ago. It was quite a night. This time, Angie and I met up with him and Laura, his wife..This place really commits to the theme. You have to make a reservation, there’s no sign, and you give a pre assigned password through the door slit to get in. It’s dimly lit, and looks like you stepped into a film set in the 20′s. There are a ton of old style cocktails and every one I tried was amazing (TJ and Laura weren't so lucky; something funny in the egg whites, apparently). Since our reservation in the main room was limited, afterwards we stepped through a hidden bookcase into “The Library” bar. Angie and I closed it down after sipping more cocktails and hanging out the rest of the night.
We probably should have gone straight back to the hotel, but Denny’s sounded amazing after multiple drinks. It definitely wasn't the next day haha.
Our flight home wasn't until Monday evening, so we just kind of wandered around the city. We left it open ended to see where the day would take us. We got in Ghirardelli square (and sundaes), the marina, the wharf, Boudin, and plenty of tourist shops. Unfortunately we didn't make it to the Golden Gate area or on the trolley, but we'll definitely save them for the next trip.
Our flight back home ended up getting delayed by a couple hours, but the trip had been so fun it really didn't matter. And luckily our ride, Shannan, was awesome and came late to get us.
These were only a few of the pictures since Tumblr limits posts to 10. I posted more over on Google+.

Oh hey, that podcast I do put out another episode. We talk about this week’s comics, that Batgirl cover, and a bunch of other stuff. Listen, if you please.
Saga #16, part of Volume 3
Written by Brian K. Vaughan
Art by Fiona Staples
Words to live by.
I love so many things about this panel. She-Hulk knows what's up.
I love comics. It's one of the only types of media where a lot of the creators are readily available. Darth Vader #1 debuted this week, and somewhat surprisingly, spun right out of Star Wars #2. I was curious about it, so I tweeted at the writer, Kieron Gillen, and he replied almost right away. Awesome.
Secret Wars Reading Order
Time for another Marvel event! If Hickman's last event, Infinity, is any indication, the reading order may be confusing for all the tie-ins and lead in stories. So like I did with that, I will be keeping an ongoing list to help myself out and whoever else stumbles in here.
This really just starts with Hickman's whole Avengers run, but I'll start from Time Runs Out here since that's where it really kicks into gear. Marvel has collected their suggested pre-reading in a paperback linked below. I'll also include links to any completed hardcovers or trades as they come out. All titles in italics are either not released yet or not sure where to place. Lastly, Comic Book Herald has been a big help in ordering this list.

Secret Wars
From everything I've read, you should be able to just read the main series, but I'm going to try and insert all the tie-ins chronologically where they should go in relation to it. There are a few categories of tie-ins; here are the descriptions so you can plan reading accordingly.
Collected: Secret Wars
Last Days
Last Days issues feature your favorite characters from Captain America and Ms. Marvel to Loki and Magneto in their final adventures before the Marvel Universe comes to an end in Secret Wars. They will expand on moments either briefly seen or not glimpsed at all in the main SECRET WARS series, allowing one last look at the past before the Marvel Universe moves forward.
Battleworld
Battleworld series contain stories that will directly affect the main story taking place in SECRET WARS and characters who will play a part in the larger event.
Warzones!
Warzones! series take place on the patchwork planet of Battleworld, but follow stories with more separation from the main SECRET WARS while providing building blocks for the future of the Marvel Universe.
Classic Secret Wars
These books reference the original Secret Wars and are pretty separate from the current event.

We thought it would be a good idea to list the titles currently on our pull lists so you guys can get an idea of how we approach our comics. Justin will go first, and Paul and Sarah will follow as soon as they compile theirs.
Boom! Studios
Adventure TIme
Day Men
Hexed
Sleepy Hollow

Now that I put all this in one place, it may be time to cut down a but haha.
#FourComics
Twitter has a fun trending topic going right now and I thought I would bring it over here. Everyone is listing the #FourComics that made them a comic fan. Here are mine. Grant Morrison's JLA - I used to go to the trade paperback section at Barnes & Noble when I was younger and Justice League was the first book I was drawn to. Luckily Morrison was at the helm at the time and it was a great run to start with. Judd Winick's Green Lantern - Reading Morrison's JLA with Kyle Rayner lead me to his solo books. Ron Marz is great for creating him, but his run was mostly about girl problems. It wasn't until Winick took over and really expanded Rayner's universe with new villains and a real exploration of his powers that it got interesting. Preacher - The first comic that opened my eyes to other comics besides cape stories. Also the first series that I read from start to finish and discovered that comics could tell one large, finite story. Sin City - Because I came to comics a little late, I didn't start with Miller's Batman. I started with Sin City after seeing promos for the movie. Of course I read everything else afterwards, but this is where it all started. This is also the first series that I bought all of the trades for.
Neil Gaiman's New Year wish a few years ago is one of my favorite things I've ever read, and now it has a beautiful illustration by David Mack.
May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman is one of the most technically dazzling and thematically ambitious films of the year. With an all-star cast and some spectacular digital effects to make the film seem like it was done in one long continuous shot, Birdman is stuffed to the gills with ideas and importance. This movie doesn’t just want to make you feel …
Obviously Birdman is a film that is going to generate a lot of discussion, especially about the ending. I've been reading/listening to a lot of it going around and I figured I would add my own explanation of a theory.
**************************** ****************************
SPOILER WARNING
**************************** ****************************
I believe that he did actually kill himself at the end of the play. I think this is illustrated by the many "rules" of the movie that are broken in that last scene.
The last scene is Riggan's vision and ideal outcome. The play got rave reviews, which was a surprise to me, at least, since the film critic walked out at the end instead of staying to applaud. It's the first time that the continuous shot is broken since the start of the film. Birdman is much different in this scene. It's the first time he is complacent and out in the open right in front of Riggan, instead of whispering from somewhere unseen or standing behind him. During the film, no one can see Riggan's powers, but Emma Stone does now. And finally, Emma Stone's character is literally looking up to Riggan now instead of seeing him as a washed up super hero film actor.
