Getting Fareeha to agree to accompany her to the festival that day was much easier than she originally anticipated; she had her reasoning all planned out, a list of why the event would be fun for them both, why she should take some time to enjoy herself and she was ready beg if she had to but luckily it didn’t come to that. Needless to say, she had been looking forward to it the moment she said yes.
Arriving just in time at their decided meeting place, she had been ready to greet Fareeha but instead, she stood back and watched as she aimed carefully then shot. Of course she would win, Lena didn’t expect anything less. However what she was not expecting was the large teddy bear to be handed to her upon Fareeha’s victory… but she wasn’t complaining; it was soft and fluffy and she was a sucker for both of those things. Still, the gesture made her cheeks blossom into a rosy glow as she accepted the gift with a smile.
“Aw really? Thanks, love! …Oh wow, it’s big.”
She also wasn’t expecting it to be so large; as she accepted the gift, she adjusted it in her arms so she could comfortably carry it. She loved it already!
“Well seeing as you got me this, snacks are on me. No complaints because I’m not listening.” She shot Fareeha a cheeky smile before gesturing for her to follow her. “Come on, there’s so much to do!” And she wanted to see as much as the festival as she possibly could before the day was up.
THE FACT THAT the bear was so giant, and she was so small was just too adorable to her. the adjustment of it so she could hold it comfortably was too much and formed a nice little soft spot inside her. though it did help in the venture to get her to actually calm down and relax -- which was never too easy.
still, she feels on high alert anyway, perhaps because she was trained to always be that way. there was always duty and always someone in need of protecting. out of her armour, in street clothes, and she still couldn’t let go of that urgency for duty and itching to get back on the job. lena helps a little, however, snapping her out of it again with her upbeat attitude and unwillingness to let fareeha turn down the payment of food and it gets a light laugh out of her at her persistence and motion to follow.
❝ the gift does not need payment, lena. but i know i can’t argue with you on this, so i trust your judgement in food. ❞
there really were many things to do there -- perhaps too much to pick anything -- and yet she’s content just being there for the moment and hanging out with someone so bright. how long had it been since she’d had a proper day off? right...never.
❝ what would you want to do first, lena? i’m all yours for the day. ❞
