No, you're right, that scene about Dumbledore telling Snape "you disgust me" makes me so angry. Because that's not some random death eater asking for help, that's the former student that Dumbledore ignored when he was bullied and almost killed. And I'm supposed to think it's "fair" or even remotely "good" to call Snape that???
I hate that we are never supposed to think Dumbledore is wrong about anything. He has some nerve saying he's disgusted by an abuse victim that he helped to create. Anyone with the bare minimum of conscience would feel some kind of regret in this situation.
I just want to tell him: the boy you turned your back on became a death eater... And you think that has nothing to do with you? You think there's no correlation?
And it’s not just a former student, it’s a fucking kid. How old is Severus there? 20? 21? That’s a fucking kid. I look at twenty-year-olds and they seem like fucking babies to me who don’t even know where they’re standing. And Dumbledore, who at that point was already in his fucking old age, comes and tells a fucking kid that he “despises” him? The same Dumbledore who started a project of global Muggle domination with his fucking boyfriend?
But even if he weren’t hypocritical as hell, from his own perspective going after a kid when he himself, as a kid, was just as bad or worse, the absolute peak of it is precisely that if that kid is standing in front of him having a fucking anxiety attack, it’s because he, back then, didn’t bother to protect him or give him any support.
A kid who was poor from birth, a kid abused at home, a kid who arrives at a school that Dumbledore runs and that therefore becomes directly his responsibility because he’s the highest authority in the place, and who ends up being mistreated, humiliated, and nearly murdered. A kid that Dumbledore pushes straight into Voldemort’s arms, because Voldemort is the only one who gives him safety, support, and a place to belong, after Dumbledore had already written him off.
Honestly, I’d smash the old man’s face in, I’m telling you.
