This one time I painted a living room with a girl.
This was a handful of years back. It was about eight months before the huge, flame-out of a breakup. That day, though? That day we painted the living room? It was pretty uneventful. We painted my parents living room for $50 between us and a pizza. That was it. I think we watched Anchorman or something after that.
But it still holds as on of the most indelible memories I have. Donāt get me wrong, Iām not still in love, it happened, it was good, it ended, and weāve both moved on. But Iāll never forget that day. Because itās never, in the long run, about the grand gestures. You can fly across the world and show up on her doorstep with a rose in your teeth and a ring in a little velvet box but I can guarantee you that - more often than not - sheās going to remember the time you built the birdhouse in the back yard, or what have you, a whole lot more.
Life wasnāt meant to be taken in large movements. The next day will inevitably arrive, youāll sleep, and the moment will have passed. But when you have a hundred thousand small moments, you can step back and appreciate the picture a lot more than metaphorically blowing your load on some grand moment that, in all honesty, look, youāre not Bruce Fucking Springsteen, youāre not going to be able to blow everyoneās mind every single night. Youāre not Romeo and/or Juliet. Thereās no reason to drink the poison together in some flame-out gesture. So that leaves us with the small stuff. Itās all about the detail.
Thatās what love is. Attention to detail.
And the moment will end. And then things will get boring. And it might get a little quiet. And it might all end horribly. And you might hate eachother at the end. And you might walk away from eachother one day and never speak again. But thatās just how it goes.
But sheāll remember the time you held the door open for her on your first date. Sheāll remember the time you laughed at her impression of the landlady. Sheāll remember the time you stayed up all night that first time. Sheāll remember the small things a lot longer than the big ones.
But everything ends. And Iāll tell you why you have to make the small things, the small moments count so much more:
One day, probably a while longer from now, when old age takes ahold of someone, she might just only remember your smile. Everything you ever did together, every second, every moment, every beat, every morning spent in bed, every evening spent together on the sofa, all of that - gone. Everything you ever did will be reduced to the head of a pin. She wonāt remember your name. Sheāll just remember your smile, and sheāll smile. She wonāt know why. Itās a base, gut reaction. But sheāll smile, uncontrollably, and it will come from somewhere so deep as to know that you touched her on a primal, honest, and true level that no scientist, scholar, or savant could ever begin to explain. There is no more. There is nothing else. There is just this: Sheāll remember your smile, and sheāll smile.
And you know what? Thatās all that really matters in the end.

Itās all so sad and thought provoking until you get to Chicken Little lol

THERE IS A GOD
I can see clearly now the rain has gone
this really helps the environment too
way less trash
THE most underrated scene in the entire movie. It was perfect. And do you know how often I see gif sets of it? This is the second one Iāve seen since the movie came out (Itās been over 5 months, now).
So letās just pause for a moment from reblogging gifs of Tonyās sass, Lokiās sex appeal, or Bruceās fluffiness and just appreciate this nameless, old, German guy and how, even though he knew he would probably die, he stood up to a tyrant to prove that the human race wouldnāt give up their freedom so easily.
Friendly reminder that itās implied that heās a Holocaust survivor.
Iāve been looking for this gif set foreverrrr. This is one of my favorite scenes in The Avengers
biggest hero in the whole movie
The science witch trials
how come i can keep a poker face on when reading aggressive frickling and frackling but i end up a gooey mess when there are cute nose boops and shy kisses and shit
THIS
I was reading a smutty fic on the bus and a boy leaned over and said āhow can you read that with a straight faceā and i just said āim used to itā and the look of horror on his face was hilarious
this makes me uncomfortable.

A List of āMenās Rightsā Issues That Feminism Is Already Working On Feminists do not want you to lose custody of your children. The assumption that women are naturally better caregivers is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not like commercials in which bumbling dads mess up the laundry and competent wives have to bustle in and fix it. The assumption that women are naturally better housekeepers is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want you to have to make alimony payments. Alimony is set up to combat the fact that women have been historically expected to prioritize domestic duties over professional goals, thus minimizing their earning potential if their ātraditionalā marriages end. The assumption that wives should make babies instead of money is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want anyone to get raped in prison. Permissiveness and jokes about prison rape are part of rape culture, which is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want anyone to be falsely accused of rape. False rape accusations discredit rape victims, which reinforces rape culture, which is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want you to be lonely and we do not hate ānice guys.ā The idea that certain people are inherently more valuable than other people because of superficial physical attributes is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want you to have to pay for dinner. We want the opportunity to achieve financial success on par with men in any field we choose (and are qualified for), and the fact that we currently donāt is part of patriarchy. The idea that men should coddle and provide for women, and/or purchase their affections in romantic contexts, is condescending and damaging and part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want you to be maimed or killed in industrial accidents, or toil in coal mines while we do cushy secretarial work and various yarn-themed activities. The fact that women have long been shut out of dangerous industrial jobs (by men, by the way) is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want you to commit suicide. Any pressures and expectations that lower the quality of life of any gender are part of patriarchy. The fact that depression is characterized as an effeminate weakness, making men less likely to seek treatment, is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want you to be viewed with suspicion when you take your child to the park (men frequently insist that this is a serious issue, so I will take them at their word). The assumption that men are insatiable sexual animals, combined with the idea that itās unnatural for men to care for children, is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want you to be drafted and then die in a war while we stay home and iron stuff. The idea that women are too weak to fight or too delicate to function in a military setting is part of patriarchy. Feminists do not want women to escape prosecution on legitimate domestic violence charges, nor do we want men to be ridiculed for being raped or abused. The idea that women are naturally gentle and compliant and that victimhood is inherently feminine is part of patriarchy. Feminists hate patriarchy. We do not hate you. If you really care about those issues as passionately as you say you do, you should be thanking feminists, because feminism is a social movement actively dedicated to dismantling every single one of them. The fact that you blame feministsāyour alliesāfor problems against which they have been struggling for decades suggests that supporting men isnāt nearly as important to you as resenting women. We care about your problems a lot. Could you try caring about ours?
