What if Mrs. X really was one of the previous soulriders (I read about this on Instagram @/starstablefolklore) and thats why her hands are covered? Maybe she was able to use the lightning-based magic we see in Alex and had a terrrible accident in her young years, which caused her to cover her destroyed hands? Thats why she’s a good friend of Herman and helped us almost immediately. This theory really interests me and I love the idea of her being a previous keeper of aideen who dedicated herself to fight the GED after the sisterhood got ripped appart.
