Humans and their war games
So war games yeah? Humans love to play war games and we start playing them from a very young age. Ever heard of capture the flag? Laser tag? Any game that involves 2 opposing sides trying to gain a tactical advantage over the other side using different strategies? What if aliens only use war games for the military and for selecting officers and specialized positions? For this one, I’ll be focusing on laser tag, but feel free to comment or use the idea in your own posts.
P'orl heard the laughter of the human children and went to investigate. Xe knew there was an organized sport that the humans had planned for today, and xe was quite curious as to what it might be. Imagine xis horror when xe saw that the children were running around with laser guns and were firing at each other from tactical locations. Human-Morris waved xim over, and upon reaching him, P'orl quickly questioned him.
“Your young ones are trying to kill each other! Why don’t you do something to stop it?” xe asked in concern. Human-Morris glanced at P'orl, “ Trying to kill each other? No no no. This is laser tag. It’s a war game.” At hearing this, P'orl became even more worried. “You let your children participate in war games?! How has your species survived this long when you pit your children against each other in war games. With guns!”
Human-Morris laughed at P’orl’s worry. “They aren’t real guns. Laser tag is a game that humans of all ages play. They wear vests with sensors that, when hit with a ray of light from the gun, lets the human know that they are ‘dead’.” Still a bit confused, P’orl continued to watch and saw that none of the children were being hurt and that they were having fun.
“So does this activity provide training for your young for when they go into the military?” P’orl asked after the game had concluded. Amused, Morris shook his head. “No, this is for fun. You see, we humans enjoy competitions, and we especially like it when it is 2 teams facing off against each other in tests of physical abilities. The best way to do this just so happens to be war games, so we tend to play them quite a bit. Hell, even when we are just learning to walk we play physical games. Just look at friendly wrestling between siblings. Well, not always friendly between siblings, but you get the gist.”
“Barbarians, the lot of you.”
So this was supposed to come out yesterday, but school sucks and chemistry sucks even more. Well, have fun with this one. My next one is going to be on existential crisis, so yeah.
